I had forgotten about some of the Jail Blazer Stuff, till I read Kerry Eggers book. I think my brain to protect itself had blacked that shit out. But, then I read the book...Jesus... It was well written and all that, but the reminder of what our team became for a decade plus...I wish I could forget again.

From 1989 til now, I remember it all. Wayne Cooper, Kelvin Cato, Chris Dudley, Joel Freeland, all of it.

We had a regular season game against the Bulls in 77 or 78 where we came back in the final seconds. I think Lionel Hollins made a miraculous shot or something. I'd like to see that video again.

I think I watched that game at the Paramount Theatre.

Lenny Wilkens got fired and said "watch Walton will be healthy and they'll win all".
Of course a few new additions from the ABA (Mo&Pinball) helped.

I was at The Portland Jewish community center (public was able to attend free) where the blazers had their fall camp when Luke came into the gym and was shaking hands with all the coaches and such.
They used this PJCC for a number of years for practice's. Moses was there too but didn't dress own.

I’ve been to a lot of Blazer games over the years, but this is one game/moment I definitely won’t forget.

The energy in that arena was crazy. My son and I didn’t want to leave. The crowd just hung around after the game and cheered for the longest time.

May have been this game, but when Rider put the Lakers away he pulled his jersey to the side to show his heart.

Fuck that was a fun team.

Everything changed. Portland returned home and won 4 straight and an NBA championship.

I think I remember more about that playoff run, than other since. Even the more recent 2000 run or the 1992 team. I think the other road games were typically blowouts, so they would be forgettable. Home court advantage was real thing back then, where teams would look entirely different on the road vs being at home. Pretty sure game 3 in Dallas was where both Buck and Duck got hurt though. We were lucky the Lakers got bounced before the WCF that year, or they probably would have beat us. I think it was the Jazz that bumped them and it was Karl Malone's coming out party. KJ was unstoppable that year with that crossover. What I recall about game 6 in Phoenix, aside from Buck spread out at halfcourt, was how small that arena was. Seemed smaller than the MC and really bright or well lit.

Yeah, games were on KOIN back then. They'd give us 20 a year I believe and they were precious, since we wouldn't get exposure elsewhere. Maybe it was possible to catch the Chicago game on WGN or Atlanta on TBS. Maybe get a few games shown on the USA channel. No chance CBS would show us on Sunday for the prime time games. Pretty sure it was Lafferty and Snapper.

Phoenix beat them, mostly due to Magic Johnsons injuries iirc. I think he strained a hammy or a groin.
