I think I wasn't clear. My point being, Collins must be the better talent if the guy he backed up hasn't been drafted yet. We're totally on the same page
What is wrong with you people... Neil hit a home run... a 7' PF with a 9'3" standing reach that is the best defensive big and can hit 3's... and played for a winning team.... so every white guy is Meyers... get a life losers
if he was black, everyone would love this pick I mean, after Butters, Im also suspicious, but I believe Olshey judgment
I don't understand the hate. Especially the one based on race. This is just madness. Let me bring you guys another important point: He is a west coast guy. If he turns out to be a very good player, he would be comfortable signing long term in Portland (not like some loser I won't name here wanting to move to Texas or some bigger market teams). The kid could become a longer term local guy who wouldn't mind playing for small market team.
Theres some truth to this. I'm guilty of it Ill tell you right now..but dont tell me its not somewhat justified
Still working on a smaller move from what I've been told. Same place that told me they were going after Collins weeks ago so I'm going to go with he is at least in the ballpark.
Depends on who he's playing with at the time. If he's the 1st, or maybe the 2nd option, yes. If he's the 4th option playing behind 3 other all stars, then no. Only 1 basketball. I'm more excited to see how he can do on the defensive end than on offense. Whether he's averaging 20 points or not is less important to me than playing good defense and scoring efficiently. I've wanted us to add solid 2-way players at the 3 and 4 spots forever. I'm hoping that's what we will have in Collins. They compared him to Bill Laimbeer (Collins is MUCH more athletic). I'd be fine with that type of player - especially next to Dame and C.J. Laimbeer never averaged more than 17.5 ppg, but was a key piece to two championships, was a 4-time all star, led the league in rebounding and played hard nosed defense. BNM
If Collins reaches his potential and is a Poor Man's Love, you all are going to be on your knees licking his balls within four years. Neil hit a potential home run. There are dip shits out there on reddit who still think Meyers needs another year.... and we gave that schmuck 10 mill a year! Collins doesn't deserve to be compared to Meyers just because of skin tone.
I wouldn't even say "poor mans" because he's a much better defender than Love and is 3 to 4 inches taller.
BTW, Laimbeer was a 4-year college player at Notre Dame, 23 years old as a rookie and didn't start until near the end of his second season. As long as Collins contributes at both ends and shows progress, I'm fine with him not starting right away. I hate to use the word upside, but Collins has way more potential than Laimbeer ever did. The comparisons to Laimbeer come from the fact that he's a big man that can shoot, plays hard nosed defense and has a mean streak - and he's white. Collins will get pushed around by bigger, stronger players until he fills out a little, but he will also be more athletic and more skilled than most of those older, stronger players. BNM
