I think he goes very early second round. Minus all the injuries, he probably would’ve gone mid-first/lotto.
I agree that it looks unlikely he'll fall to 46. If he does, it's because he failed a ton of physicals.
I'm sure teams are pretty worried... Not in ESPN's latest mock, measure pretty small at the combine (6'8" wingspan, although decent reach) and one of the highest body fat %'s at just over 220lbs.
I want the highest ceiling/best athlete available at whatever pick is high enough up that's reasonably and affordably attainable -- if that's Scrubb, fine, if not, fine. I DON'T want undersized bigs, combo guards who lack PG chops or Payton Pritchard (and that's coming from a Duck.)
My vote is Isaiah Joe. He's a better player than Mason Jones, although Mason has really transformed himself from HS to now. He was very overweight and that has caused him to play below the rim. I see he has even worked more on his body since the end of season. His handles are not good and can't guard anyone at his position. Joe may have been the best defender on the team last year and his all around game will shine in the NBA. He's an assassin from deep
Nice catch. Of the two, i highly prefer Joe. Mason was on the list and just voicing my opinion after watching the two play for two years. Joe has much more upside and talent.
Joe has consistently been rated higher than Jones (who hasn't even appeared on a lot of mock drafts). The way Jones has transformed himself in a fairly short time has me very intrigued, though.
Both can shoot. Lights out. Joe is quiet and humble. Jones celebrates plays and forgets to get back on defense. I love both players but if we have a choice, mine is Joe. Prior to his Knee Injury, Joe was a borderline lotto pick, as high as sixteen at one point. Not even sure he's turned twenty yet. Sky is the limit and if he can put on twenty lbs, he will be an elite defender.
If Joe was gone by 46 (as predicted) but Jones was available (seems very possible), would you consider Jones? Or is he not an NBA player in your view?
Absolutely. No question. Again, he's really only been playing for a few years at a high level of competition. He has put in the work. His brother played at Duke and his sister played College ball. It's in the Genes and i've seen video recently where he's dunking. He has gone from about 240 in HS to probably 205-215 now. He's got the work ethic and he goes hard. Just needs to quit reading his press clippings and play ball.
