I love the Draft, so hope the Blazers either get another pick, or move up from #46 for someone they have targeted. Celtics have 3 1st round picks 76'ers have 4 2nd round picks Kings have 2 2nd round picks Olshey has a history with both the Kings, and the 76'ers GM, Morey. Who would you want to move up from #46 to get earlier in the 2nd round?
I don’t think Pritchard will be spectacular. But I think he’ll be a contributor and stick in the league especially after the development of NBA 3 range. He’s a steady PG, plays solid defense, makes the smart play and makes his teammates better. Look, if TJ McConnell can stick in the league and be a decent contributor theres no doubt in my mind Pritchard can. I watched McConnell at Arizona and Pritchard is easily the better player at that level and I think his game translates even more. I used to not be sold on Pritchard but after his shortened season last year he improved immensely. I’d take a shot with him in the 2nd round as a backup PG. He’d be good practice fodder for Dame as Pritchard really brings it defensively as well.
It doesn't matter who we want.... I think its a foregone conclusion that Olshey will draft Scrubb. However, I would love for Portland to pick up another 2nd rounder for cash & draft Tyler Bey, Paul Reed, Reggie Perry, Sam Merrill, or N'Doye to be signed on a 2-way contract.
Just saw this at BE: "Oft-rumored Trail Blazers target Jay Scrubb was not among Givony’s Top 60 picks."
A look back at some of the Blazers notable 2nd rounders - Anthony Mason. Pick #53, 1988 - All-Star 2000-01, Miami Dražen Petrović. Pick #60, 1986 - All-NBA Third Team (1993), New Jersey Patty Mills. Pick #55, 2009 - NBA Champion 2014, San Antonio Spurs Jerome Kersey. Pick #46, 1984 - NBA Champion 1999, San Antonio Spurs Cliff Robinson, Pick #36, 1989 - NBA All-Star 1994, Portland - 1380 Career NBA Games Played Larry Steele, Pick #37, 1971 - NBA Champion 1977, Portland - NBA Steels Leader, 1974 Lloyd Neal, Pick #31, 1972 - NBA Champion 1977, Portland Did I miss anyone?
Victim of ageism. Seriously. If he was 2-3 years younger he would be a lock to be drafted. Instead, there is a good chance he is an UDFA.
I would love to see if Pritchard falls that far but I think they might go for N' Doye out of France. He is a bit older and may fit better for a competitive run now. At 6' 7" with a 7' 3" wingspan he may be worth a shot as a versatile perimeter defender and energy guy! If not him a 4 year guy out of college that offers the same attributes.
That's my guy if we're picking at 46. His defense is badass and he can effectively run an offense (handle the rock and make really good passes)... that's enough for me.
