The Blazers won the swish3 contest scoring 14 of 42 vs the NO Pelicans 6 of 24 in the Mar 30 loss 107-117. The Blazers played well early, scoring 9 swish3s in the 1st half. But hostile refs and TOs and missed shots led to only 5 swish3s in the 2nd half. The refs gave the Pelicans a 16 pt FT edge.

Brown led scoring 3 of 5, Ben scored 3 of 10, Blevins scored 2 of 4, Brandon scored 2 of 6, Drew and Keon each scored 1 of 2, Didi scored 1 of 5, and Elleby scored 1 of 6. Perry was 0 of 2. If the Blazers had kept up the swish3 pace and the refs called fouls at both ends consistently, there was a chance to win this game. Drew, Brown, Ben, Dunn, and Perry had good games. The rest of the schedule looks difficult.

The Blazers lost the swish3 contest scoring 15 of 35 vs SA Spurs 16 of 37 in the Apr 1 loss 111-130 in Texas. This was an outmanned game in which the Blazers started with a 10-2 lead and then stopped playing defense, allowing the Spurs 43 pts in the 2nd Q. The Blazers missed a number of open swish3s, midrange, and close in shots during the 2nd Q lapse and could not catch up. Eight Blazers had double figure pts.

Keon led scoring 4 of 6, Brandon scored 3 of 4, Brown scored 2 of 3, Ben and Blevins each scored 2 of 6, Didi scored 1 of 1, and Perry scored 1 of 2. Drew was 0 of 1, Dunn was 0 of 2, and Elleby was 0 of 4. The Blazers need better swish3 scoring to remain competitive.

The Blazers won the swish3 contest scoring 16 of 45 vs the SA Spurs 14 of 42 in the Apr 3 loss 92-113 in Texas. Although the Blazers led the 1st half, the 2nd half lapses in defense, shooting, and excess TO led to domination by the Spurs, who outrebounded the Blazers 51-39. The refs gave the Spurs a 13 pt FT advantage.

Gregg Brown led scoring 4 of 5, Ben scored 4 of 11, Keon scored 3 of 7, Elleby scored 2 of 4, Drew and Didi each scored 1 of 2, and Brandon scored 1 of 5. Perry and Dunn were each 0 of 2, and Blevins was 0 of 5. This was insufficient scoring, especially in the 16 pt 3rd Q, to be competitive.

The Blazers won the swish3 contest scoring 11 of 32 vs the OKC Thunder 9 of 29 in the Apr 5 loss 94-98 in OK. The Blazers led most of the game, but scored only 12 pts in the 4th Q and were outrebounded 40-47 and let one get away.

Keon led scoring 3 of 7, Ben scored 3 of 11, Brown and Elleby each scored 1 of 1, Didi and Blevins each scored 1 of 2, and Hughes scored 1 of 4. Dunn and Perry were each 0 of 2. Unlike the previous Thunder game, this was a weak swish3 scoring affair. Better swish3 scoring is needed.

The Blazers lost the swish3 contest scoring 11 of 31 vs the NO Pelicans 13 of 37 in the Apr 7 blowout loss 94-127 in NO. This was a very weak performance by the Blazers, who were uncoordinated, were badly outrebounded 27-49, had 22 glaring TOs, and had terrible defense. The Blazers had only 69 FGA.

Didi led scoring 3 of 4, Ben scored 3 of 7, Elleby and Keon each scored 2 of 5, and Blevins scored 1 of 3. Drew, Perry, Brandon, and Hughes each were 0 of 1, and Brown was 0 of 3. The Blazers need to return to 18+ swish3s to stay in the game.

The Blazers seriously lost the swish3 contest scoring only 7 of 32 (21.9%!) vs the Mavs 20 of 45 in the Apr 8 super blowout loss 78-128. In addition to the 39 pt swish3 deficit, the refs gave the Mavs a 15 pt FT advantage, the Blazers were badly outrebounded 29-51, there was weak D, and many sloppy TOs. The Blazers appeared to be strongly outclassed in this game, and resigned to the end of the season.

Ben led scoring 3 of 6, Hughes scored 2 of 7, Brown scored 1 of 2, and Didi scored 1 of 4. Drew, Perry, and Blevins were each 0 of 1, Brandon was 0 of 2, and Keon and Elleby were each 0 of 4. The 9 pt 4th Q is the worst of this season. The Blazers offense appears to be in steep decline.

The Blazers tied in the swish3 contest scoring 9 of 34 vs the Utah Jazz 9 of 36 in the Apr 10 blowout loss 80-111 on our home court. This was another mismatch game that the Blazers led 19-16 until the refs took the game away from the Blazers giving the Jazz a 19 pt FT advantage and the lead. The game ended with 28 Jazz FT vs the Blazers 9 FT. This home court hostile refs that call fouls decidedly against the Blazers has to stop to give the Blazers a chance for next season! Gobert was not called for many fouls while Jazz were given FT if only touched. Unprofessional!

Ben led scoring 2 of 2, Elleby scored 2 of 3, Didi scored 1 of 2, Brandon and Perry each scored 1 of 4, Brown scored 1 of 5, and Blevins scored 1 of 6. Hughes was 0 of 3 and Keon was 0 of 5. Next fall the Blazers need to set a floor of 15 and a target of 18+ for swish3s scored per game.

Man what an off year for Dame, he only shot better than Blevins by like 2%. At the beginning of the year who would have ever guessed Blevins would be shooting 3’s almost at the same % as him.

Remarkably, Blevins had the highest swish3 % for much of the year, though on a low shot volume. And Dame will return with a swish3 % next season that I imagine will be well into the 40s, and may have a leading PPG performance for at least part if not all of the season. Didi may also be a leading swish3 % contributor next season. And Simons, Keon, Hart, and Ben will be efficient swish3 contributors with any luck. Next season the Blazer team swish3% should exceed 38%.
