It never stops man. Many said to trade him because he can't rebound. Then Aldridge rebounds and they move to something else. Before that it was, he can't score inside. It will never end.

I'd love to see LaMarcus working the left side with Monroe working the right block. I don't care how much of Paul Allen's money I have to spend. ;)

It would be a great addition if they can work together

    Dan Feldman @PistonPowered

Thing I believe but don't know re Greg Monroe: Pistons would match max offer sheet if necessary

Thing I believe but don't know re Greg Monroe: Monroe might not know about request. It's a leverage tool more than a real demand.

Thing I believe but don't know re Greg Monroe: Josh Smith won't preclude Pistons from paying Monroe.

Thing I believe but don't know re Greg Monroe: Monroe would not actually sign the qualifying offer over a max offer sheet or anything close

Thing I believe but don't know re Greg Monroe: At least some NBA personnel outside Detroit believe Monroe is a max-contract player

Thing I believe but don't know re Greg Monroe: Monroe would not actually sign the qualifying offer over a max offer sheet or anything close

Monroe would be a good fit in Portland. A tough inside player who can rebound and play defense. And I think getting him would convince Aldridge to stay.

To be fair, the "can't score inside" argument still has some legitimacy... He DOES it... but he doesn't do it enough. We know he can dominate, but he settles for the jumper, and it upsets people... I understand, it does for me too. Just because you do it a occassionally, even though more opprotunites are present, doesn't mean he scores inside at will... because frankly it looks like sometimes there isn't a lot of want to to go inside. So, I can emphasize with that vocal group, because it's still largely true. We can see when he does incorporate the inside game (Games 1 and 2, for example) but then he reverts. THAT to me is where the frustration is, and it's justifable, IMO.

No the comment was "he can never have the ability to score inside". It wasn't "he doesn't choose to". This was made in his first 4 years in the league.

Then it graduated to "he chooses not to score inside".

Yea that one is completely wrong. Monroe is regularly made fun of for his D much like Hardin.

Yeah if you read piston fans, they talk about how his defense is just awful. But what do they know?! They only watch him 82 games a year

Maybe they should do a sign in trade, LA to Detroit for Monroe, then sign Spencer Hawes. We get our shooting big man (who actually shoots 3s), and a PF that can post up. Greg Monroe shoots 82% of his shots in the paint, as opposed to LA who takes only 33% of his shots in the paint. Maybe we could even get a draft pick from them as well.

Big difference, LaMarcus was never a restricted free agent.

The versatility of Aldridge's game is what makes him unstoppable. This has to be one of the most idiotic trade proposals.

    No offense

Call me crazy as I love LMA but I would consider this if Hawes was a for sure and Det also sent back Singler. Mostly only because of LMA looming contract.

Actually that one I wouldn't do (which I know could be confusing) because I don't see Deng as an upgrade over Batum. Was more meaning guarantee that Hawes took our MLE.

I wasn't really suggesting that as a serious option. We would end up spending ~$5M/year more on those three than on the two we'd send out, and not really get appreciably better.

LOL! Does LaMarcus Aldridge shoot 100% from the field? Oh no, that's right, he actually shoots a worse percentage than Monroe, in fact, LaMarcus eFG% is worse than any Blazer, and doesn't even rank in the top 200 in the NBA.

There are times where it is available against weaker defenders that he still chooses to settle for the jumper. It's really just true, and I can understand how that can grate some people, because it does for me during games. I understand the gripes, but I still love LMA. I know some just don't. lol.
