Vaden is close to Vader, although Darth Vaden doesn't have quite the same ring to it. :sith:

It's about time the Blazers learned which NBA refs can be bribed, what's the point of having a billionaire owner if he doesn't throw around a little cheddar?

He was hired to replace Stotts after a short get-to-know-you Tupperware houseparty.

I know this was said in jest but here's the facts:

I'm a ref and a coach at the same time. Same with my head coach. These kids benefit because I know exactly what the refs look at, what they call, and why they call it.
I teach kids how to get fouled and how to avoid being called for foul. It's truly a benefit because they get a perspective most kids don't get, what the referee sees and calls.

I'm truly a better official than they will have all season and I'll never referee them (save maybe a few scrimmages).

This brings me to a short story:

Last week I'm playing head coach for our 4th/5th grade team. Our main head coach was simultaneously coaching the third graders. I call time out and we're in the huddle.
We must've been taking too long because the ref gives the ball to the other team to inbound (WHILE we're in the huddle).

I yell: "HEY!!! YOU DON'T SEE US IN OUR HUDDLE??"

The garbage ref, while literally striking toward me and holding his whistle to prepare to give a T says: "I BLEW MY WHISTLE 3 TIMES!!!"

I, while calming down and realizing how much of an idiot this ref is, say: "3 times huh? You're right... That was a lot of times to blow us out of our time out... True..."

"But let me ask you this, how come none of those whistles was for a delay of game warning? Because instead of you puffing up your chest and wanting to hurry out of here with your check, you could take a second,
realize we're here for the kids, and say "delay of game warning blue" and I'd know as a coach the next delay of game warning would be a technical foul. Then, you don't have to upset yourself over something that's easily handled.
    What do you think?"

He quickly Shuts TF up and keeps "reffing" the game.

    Cool story, bro. :pimp:

No, literally, that's actually a cool story. I hope the ref learned a little something from your example about the effectiveness and value of treating other adults like adults.

As for my dark side comment, it didn't even have anything to do with him being a ref; I was just joking about the similarity of his name to a more famous fictional one.

...yeah this is interesting for sure! If the Blazers are truly the pioneers of trying to implement referee focused training methods, then I would expect even more whistles! The conspiracy is real folks. :dunno:
