They built that thing right in the middle of the rodeo grounds. Surrounded by horse and cattle fences.
No.... It's next to a golf course, business and houses. It's 2.5 miles from the Alamo which is Downtown. I mean it doesn't have fancy shops or restaurants nearby like the new Clippers arena which I'd assume is the goal of a new arena. But it's way easier to drive to and functional than the Moda center.
Cuban has started an investment firm to help minority investors buy sports franchises...he's just put 750 mil into it with the intention of attracting minority partners....Cuban could very well bid on the Blazers if he got completely out of the Mavs 21% ownership investment.
Best case scenario if he bought the Blazers. Cuban has a lot of passion for his team. Might even bring Dirk as an advisor with him. One of the best to ever play the game.
Cuban just quit Shark Tank to concentrate on his new affordable pharmaceutical company,Cost Plus Drug Company. I’m not holding my breath but I would definitely like it.
Technically, it's called the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company, PBC. Not that that's important, it's just a bit interesting and clunky and narcissistic. The PBC stands for Public Benefit Corporation. barfo
Ego maybe but difference between funding something good and putting your name on it and getting people to build resorts and golf courses you put your name on.
Warren Buffett is a unicorn. Aside from people become filthy rich by being narcissistic, or become narcissistic. Someone like Trump, is not only narcissistic. But a caveat of other self aggrandizing mental issues.
Any names for legit potential buyers of the Blazers? Are we getting relocated to Seattle or Mexico City?
I can’t wait for new ownership so this kind of stuff will stop. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the panic or concern, I just don’t think there’s a very good chance the team gets relocated
Very little chance at all. Despite what happened to the Sonics, the NW is a bigger market overall. I believe Seattle is the largest city to not have an nba team. Moving the Blazers means no team within a days drive to even watch. Just not gonna happen in my opinion.
The NBA is headed for expansion. The owners will be putting the expansion timeline in place pretty soon. The two primary candidates for expansion are Las Vegas and Seattle. The NBA would not allow a Blazer move to Seattle that would delete a 5B expansion fee the NBA commissioner has said, more than once, that allowing the Sonics to move was a big mistake. I'm not saying it can't happen but I think all the angst about the Blazers moving is way overblown now, if you want to worry about a destination for a Blazer move, don't worry about Seattle, worry about San Diego...or St Louis. But then before you worry you need to research what cities already have NBA-ready arenas. Seattle and Las Vegas do; not sure about others
You do not remember correctly. Ownership tried getting an arena and the city said that the upgrades that they did to Key Arena were good enough. Once the team was sold to an out of town group, it was just a matter of time till they were gone. I am not stressing a move. Guessing the new owner will build a new arena and it will not be near the Moda Center.

yeah....after a 1.15B renovation. All that was kept of Key Arena was the original exterior and roof-line
