The more I think about it, it is kind of a chicken shit firing. Its been obvious for a while to everyone except us Blazer homers that Aldridge was gone. Hughes statement didn't sway Aldridge. Hope this doesn't strain the teams relationship with Meyers.
It wasn't a slip of the tongue. I have never seen an assistant coach make a statement like that to the media. He knew what he was saying. It wasn't an accident. It was a stupid thing to say and I think most teams would have fired him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And that sums up the problem. The Blazers have some insanely loyal fans - and they treat us like mushrooms. (kept in the dark and fed shit)
I thought Hughes would be reprimanded, but not fired. But that's because somehow we tend to think basketball is different from other corporations. In some ways it is, but an NBA team is still a giant financial concern. In any other business he'd have been fired, only sooner. Like the same day his bosses found out about it. At least they took a few days and considered it before taking action. Some say, he shouldn't be fired for his first fuck up. How do we know it was his first fuck up? Chances are, looking at his Clippers history, it wasn't. We don't know what other issues the team may have had with him. See ya Hughes, you dumb shit. Now, let's hire Bill Laimbeer and get on with the season.
In this particular situation I think it is best not to talk about it. If they defend the act then they have to take a shot at Hughes who I am sure they still like on a personal level. Nothing good can come from that. The other option is to admit they acted in a petty way, and you know that is not going to happen. I just wouldn't discuss it.
Lol at those that said "In Olshey we Trust", now want him gone. You guys don't know how good we got it with this GM.
People need to chill... It's a business, I have things I'm not allowed to talk about, about my work. If I do then I get fired or worst get jail time. It's how the world works.
Hughes has no one to blame, except himself. I still can't believe he said it. He must have just been really excited to see young guys get LA's minutes. I totally understand the firing. Sometimes you have to fire people you like.
