I'm really surprised & disappointed that Portland didn't call Baldwin up while Dame has been out. It would've been nice to see how well his game translates. I'm a little skeptical since Memphis cut him & gave up on him
I actually agree with not bringing him up for a couple of reasons. 1. He’s in only his sixth game since returning from a two month injury. Letting him get consistent minutes in the g league is a better idea to me than the spot minutes he would’ve gotten in Portland. 2. If we called him up, his 45 day clock would’ve started, and it wouldn’t have stopped if we sent him back down. Once the deadline passes he’ll probably get his chance. I’m viewing him as an extra draft pick, so I’m for whatever is best for his development.
Actually Stotts likes to push the pace but he doesn’t really have the players to do it. Our struggles in transition isn’t a coaching problem.
Are you sure on that? I was under the impression that it was 45 days total regardless of when it happened. 5 days here, 8 days there sort of thing.
This young team doesn't wan't to run? Seems like we ran last year more than this year. Young players should be running.
It’s not that they don’t want to run, but who on our team is good in transition? Our guards don’t exactly finish above the rim. Our wings can’t hold onto the ball. Baldwin would immediately become our best player in transition.
Those announcers were so bad. Yes and we need to give up on the McCollum point guard experiment once and for all. Baldwin is an actual point guard. I actually think he’s a better passer than Napier as well.
maybe they are trying to pump up Napiers value? in any case its working and I believe we still have an open roster spot and I'd be very surprised if we don't do some type of trade before the deadline
From :10 to :26, it's nice to see Zach Randolph work with The Fourth, the first time over Sergio Rodriguez.
They ran a lot more last year with the same players. Harkless does his best work on the break. Aminu is a good finisher if he doesn't have to dribble. Vonleh finishes with authority on the break. Dame can certainly finish on the run. Connaughton certainly has ups. CJ finishes well even though it's with more finesse. Meyers actually finishes quite well on the break. Something happened that this year they just don't run for whatever reason when the same guys ran much more last year and it certainly fits their skills set more than the half court in many cases.
Portland was ranked in the bottom 10 last year in fastbreak points too. nothing happened, they just aren’t good at it.
Just finished Swanigans game. I think I might just watch the replays from now on so I don’t have to watch an entire g league game live. This game was a great example of the box score not telling the whole story. Swanigan had 17 points (8-14 shooting) and 9 rebounds, but got outplayed by both Bolomboy and former Blazer great Cliff Alexander (who btw should be in the NBA.) Swanigan has a high bball IQ, he’s consistently where he needs to be, and his instincts for the ball are there, but his lack of athleticism kills him. And this is the gleague. He needs to get in top shape because he can’t afford to sacrifice any of the athleticism he does have in his body. I’m just going to pretend Baldwin was our pick at 26, because he’s much more intriguing. I don’t want to doubt Biggie because he’s got the work ethic, but he’s got a long way to go. His upside to me right now is a late career Boris Diaw.
Bottom 10 to last is a 50% decline.....that is fairly significant. Not saying they were the Warriors but they did run more with the same players. It has really affected Harkless because that is where he is best.
I'm really sold on Baldwin IV as a keeper..at this point I'm ready for a change that includes someone who has some zip and accuracy passing the ball.
