    Fair enough.

If this is true, I would summarize it as saying Sharpe has a promise to be drafted at #7, and Portland has agreed to a trade contingent on Sharpe being available at #7.

I wouldn't classify this as Portland gave a promise to draft a player as the tweet read. I read a team drafting a player without any additional comments, as meaning he ends up on that team. I'd never say the Blazers drafted Tyrus Thomas or that they did not draft LaMarcus Aldridge.

I believe there was also a rumor -- when Ant was in the Draft he might have had a promise -- just bringing it up the blazers seem to be big on those type of things and Telfair was not the last promise

Selecting Sharpe with the 7th is the right move. Trading him for "good players" would not.

Was Damian given a promise, but not public initially?

You can probably put a Raptors Jersey on him if that's the move because I think he'll be a Blazer for about 20 seconds

My guess is we draft Sharpe, trade him and then regret it a lot within 2 years.

That's the kicker in the draft crap shoot. You might get Giannis or you might get Adam Morrison

Unfortunately, my pessimism is usually turned into reality. IE not getting the Pelican pick.

Here is the thing if this was a complete rebuild not sure he would be the right choice but IF the Blazers draft him they are not asking him to be a savior just a good solid player ALONG side of Dame and Co. -- this being the case then even if your not a fan of him he COULD do that just depends on his desire and skill etc.

I am not against HIM being the pick AS long as he is just a good piece to the team and NOT the next leader of the team.

I'm all about win-now too . . . except this kid seems like a very special player for some reason. Damn!

i didn't really hear anything out of the ordinary from the Haynes pod, but the lady who was on was super high on Sharpe and said Portland is a good spot for him because of the pedigree in developing young players
