Oh for sure it's a smokescreen. But I also think it's one that is partially true. If Sharpe is there we'd take him. But there's probably someone like Dyson who we value higher and is trying to get a team like Indiana to bite on Sharpe so that Dyson falls to us.

If someone takes him top 6, that means we have a good shot at getting Murray. I guess Indy might screw it up for us.

The key is whether Detroit takes Mathurin at 5. If that happens, we can get Keegan or Sharpe.

Thunder Trying To Move Up From No. 12 With Jaden Ivey, Shaedon Sharpe Targeted

(If you click on the link in the story "future draft picks" it shows all incoming and outgoing picks for all teams.)

The Oklahoma City Thunder are "aggressively pursuing trade conversations" involving the No. 12 pick in order to move into the mid-lottery. The Thunder are believed to be targeting Jaden Ivey and Shaedon Sharpe.

Ivey could go as high as No. 4, while Sharpe has a probable draft range of No. 4 through No. 8.

The Thunder own the most future draft picks in the NBA, which would allow them to move up depending on how much they covet one of those higher lottery picks.

The Thunder tried to trade up at last year's draft with Evan Mobley as their target.

    Take Sharpe at 7.
    Trade for Thybulle and 23.
Trade 23 and change for Jerami Grant.

I’m not sure any of this is realistic, but that’s a solid start to next season

What is the point of making a "draft promise"

Ideally to get the player to stop other workouts. Didn't really happen completely with Sharpe.

Like for example, Utah apprently held a secret workout of Donovan Mitchell and promised him even if they didnt have a pick in his range. He shut down workouts and they found a way to trade into his range to get him.

I have never understood it either. I guess to try to persuade the player not to keep going to other teams to showcase their skills that draft below them? It would be stupid for a player not to interview with a team who drafts higher. And why would a player or agent ever take a team's word on it? Things change.

So you think Sharpe is not really who they want, and it’s all a smokescreen?

One thing it does is makes a statement to said player that you are all in on them at a time they are being questioned bout everything by everyone.

Give me Sharpe, or give me a sharp object. Those are the two options. I'm rooting for option 1.

I have no idea what’s going to happen in the draft, but if Sharpe is the guy Portland wants I’m almost certain they won’t get him. It’s the Portland curse.

Murray has his fans too. It just depends who you're listening too.
Mike Schmitz loves Keegan Murray. I think he has Murray at number 3 in his Big Board.
