The Blazers had the 7th pick, not the 6th.

We traded for the 6th pick..... just like we traded for the 6th pick this year.

But we will be able to use Shawne Williams 3.1 million once he opts in June 30. If we traded the 6th pick plus Shawne, Nolan Smith and Kurt Thomas for Kyle Lowery, we wouldn't lose any cap space.

I'm willing to trade the 6th or both picks for the right player; I don't think that is Milsap, not sure if he works with Aldridge and we have Hickson who wants to play here and wouldn't cost a draft pick.

Can you imagine this forum if we had picked Milsap with the 6th pick!!!!! This place would have gone Rodney King riots style!

Seems to me like Harrison Barnes has been placed in the same tier nationally as Beal, Robinson, MKG, and Drummond--so whichever one of those 5 is still on the board when we pick is who we should take. Unless that player is Drummond, in which case we should trade the pick (to Houston?), because I don't like him.

With 11, I think we should take the best guard available, because I don't really like any of the forwards/centers projected to go in that range (Zeller, Leonard, Sullinger, T-Jones etc.)--unless Perry Jones has dropped, in which case you grab him and hope for the best.

Hmmm, good take, BUT, I am so sick of the Blazer drafting one shitty guard after another. nothing but tweeners, short shooting guards or points that cant shoot for shit. Face it, we are not going to draft a point, we have not been able to for decades.

I almost think we should look to trade for the peices we need to contend, If we are unable to, fuck it, trade LMA, Nic etc, and get picks too start all over again.

I will honestly be shocked if we keep either pick, but especially the 6th

The thing is, who is available out there that would fit our needs? We know it won't be Rondo. Is there a star quality shooting guard available? How about a big man? I just don't see it. If it were me, and I was in charge of the team, I'd use the picks and deal Aldridge. I think we should start from scratch. Maybe sit on the cap space too.

Is it? Is Jared Sullinger, Perry Jones or Harrison Barnes likely to be a lot better or more productive during their respective career? I'd put the chances at South of 25%. 6 for Millsap would work for me.

I would too, but I'm not the one saying this roster can be retooled all off season.

Unless they can pull Deron Williams, there really isn't a difference maker available in free agency. I guess Hibbert, but he's even less of a likely target than Williams. I think we could get back to the playoffs next year if they play their cards right, but it will just be more of the same mediocre shit. 1st and outs.

Weren't you also shocked Brooklyn didn't move up? I usually agree with you but this gimmick is getting old... no offense.

This is not a gimmick. Portland management has said all off season that they feel they can re-tool the roster rather than rebuild it. They have said many times they would like to find players around the same age as Aldridge to compete now.
