If you are actually offended, which I doubt, by my using lupus as an example of a House diagnosis, and jokingly applying that to Roy, who presumably does not have lupus, then I think you are a little oversensitive.

Yes, I am oversensitive to lupus jokes. Both my career and my personal life has me in with doctors on a daily basis during the week between the two of them. Watching a 7 year-old go through test after test does tend to make one a bit defensive toward "jokes" about serious conditions. Do you ever go to the board functions? I think it would be fun to actually get to meet such a care-free guy like you.

i actually called on elletrache's office last friday and have dealt with his office in the past. extremely busy guy. :NOTMARIS:

you just don't throw money at him to get a faster diagnosis for something that is not ultra critical. Cho basically just flew in with Roy's chart, gave it to the doc who needs to look at it. he has consults, surgeries and other shit scheduled. i acutally had his surgery/consult schedule written down for this week but threw it away.

    :NOTMARIS:

Oden's note at the end concerns me more:

He's in LA and works for the Dodgers. I'm sure he has extra money flying his way all the time from celebrity types.

He also did Tom Brady's surgery. And does a shitload of professional athletes. To him, Roy is just like a normal patient, he has a normal case load, etc.. What are you going to do, slip him $10k? I work in the field and it doesn't work like that, even with high profile docs. Unless he's close friends with Roy or covered extensively by the media, its not going to get fast tracked.

You're a grown man who talks shit on your own behalf. I didn't "mock" your illness; I know it was severe. I merely asked what may have led to it, considering your own abrasive tone on this board, as well as your pleas for sympathy by starting threads about it.

If what you type about me makes you feel better, well, that's the service that I provide for you in your recovery. Get strong again!

I work in the field as well, and it does "work like that". Also, why the fuck would you throw away the schedule for this doc? That is invaluable in what we do.

Come on now. One of the richest men in the world is flying down his GM and some players to see you. You make time for that unless something is completely off the charts important. I work in the field as well, and I'll add that I would NEVER throw away the schedule of a doc this important to my job. Who is your mole, and why is she giving you that info if you do nothing with it?

I didn't need it anymore. Its stupid to think he'll drop everything, cancel surgeries and consults for a second opinion on knee swelling. There is no difference if the answer comes tomorrow or Monday.

Why would he cancel a surgery? All he needs to do is look at the chart and imaging, and if he sees anything out of the current diagnosis, he shuts down Roy on a recommendation. You've seen how fast these guys can look through a chart on a second opinion, right? I'll guess that he went with the status quo because he didn't get a patient consult, but that's just me.

Oden and Elliot Williams had appointments with them. So Paul Allen spends $500 to fly Cho down with them carrying Roy's charts for him to look at. Sure, it can take him only 1/2 hour to look at..maybe shorter...but maybe longer if he needs to ask others, look in his books, or whatever.... but then he needs to dictate his consult report, have them code it, blah blah blah. Its a lot more involved, especially with his case load and given the fact he was probably tired from surgery. I think if i recall correctly, he usually does consults on Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesday are surgery days, Thursday and Friday consults. He'll probably take a look at it, but probably said to cho that no guarantees he'd get to it. Its not that big of a deal.

I agree with that, but it cost Allen more than $500 to fly Cho and the players down to LA for this appointment. Anyhow, it's nice to have someone else here who works with elite medical personnel.

    Hey -

First post. Blazer fan. Refugee from another (not-to-be-named) Blazer forum site... it took me a while to find another forum, but this one is bustling. And I like how people are allowed to more or less speak their mind.

I think I'll like it here!

And if it hasn't been said before, we need a new training staff.

they run kerlan jobe like a fucking machine. I deal with plastic surgeons so the dynamics are a lot different. He's in a group and those things are always fucked up schedule-wise.
