I like the potential for Cho related nicknames a lot more than I like the Pfund related nicknames ... but that's as far as I'm willing to go in terms of deciding who the best candidate is.

People are giving Presti way too much credit on this point. He drafted well, but let's see how many people envy his "low-cost" roster once the core guys are off their rookie deals... The same was said of the Blazers 2 years ago, now people fret about how expensive the core will be to keep together.

As one can see based on my previous posts, I have a GM hard on for this guy. I think the future of GMing is guys like Daryl Morey, who is less a traditional scout than a guy who understands how to parse statistics. Keep Born and Buchanan on board as the talent guys, hire an outside advisor who can work the league and knows how to put together trades (John Gabriel or Rod Thorn) and let this guy grow into his job.

I never quite get all the hype over the Thunder. Imagine that franchise got the third pick instead of the second in 2007, and wound up with Al Horford instead of Durant. That's probably a 30 win team, which is about what they've averaged since 2005 (as the Sonics). Ensured of a lottery pick between 7-11. Too bad to be worth watching, picking too low to get anything good.

Agreed. I thought the plan was to bring someone in with GM experience. Maye Cho would make a fine GM, maybe. I like Pfund because he's apparently well respected around the league and has a decent track record for making trades.

I don't want a castoff from a franchise; I want someone with new ideas.

Also someone who isn't a known quantity for other GM's is a plus in my book. Pfund is t horrible by any means, I just like Cho's GM upside more. I feel Pfund has hit his ceiling as happens with GM's his age.

(Yes I was getting silly at the end.)

But you neglect to think of Pfund in the Paul Allen's Vulcan offense - You take Steve Nash and put him in a slow-down, feed Shaq offense - and they don't make the playoffs. Likewise, you take Pfund and put him in charge of Allen's spread the wealth spigot... and the world is your oyster!

Turn him into Yao with Howard's athleticism and durability.

He already has the athleticism. He needs the durability. I think the skills will come.

I think we're putting together a pretty good pool of candidates for the position which is clearly contrary to what Canzano predicted.
