Well we sit and watch other Western conference teams get better, Memphis gets Jeff Green for a worthless expiring Prince and a highly protected first that may do nothing until 2019, Brandan Wright goes to Suns for similar. We have these type of assets to use in a trade, I would like to add a piece before the trade deadline - what to you say Mr Olshey?
that sounds like a poor excuse to me, IMO we are a decent contender this year and with a good trade move to bolster the bench we could be a top contender or favorite, in a year in which there seems no strong favorite to win the title IMO this is a year to go for it and not sit on our hands.
The trade deadline isn't until late January. I suspect NO is waiting for the right piece that's the right fit. On the other hand, there is a lot to be said in favor or continuity, chemistry and organic growth. We have all those things going for us. It would have to be a REALLY good trade for the right piece to risk messing that up. BNM
we are talking about getting a good bench player for Portland, hard for me to believe that it would be hard to have a guy like that "fit in", IMO a Jeff Green would fit in easily and very well and be a great addition
It's always right after the All-Star weekend. Gotta let the bigwigs get together and see if they can work a deal in person.
Pretty much anybody that's been traded this season would be more productive for us than CJ - JR Smith, Waiters, Brewer, Green, Wright, shit, even Prince. We still need one more major bench player before heading into the POs.
Boston is getting a $7.7M expiring contract and a 1st round pick for Green, last I saw. Prince is 34 and plays 24 minutes. 6'4" Tony Allen is basically their only other SF. Green is going to start and play a lot of minutes. I don't think the Blazers would start him, or mess with the chemistry that is clearly working. Maybe an offer of TRob, Wright, and Claver plus an equally good 1st pick might have scored him, but the loss of the pick might not be acceptable. Green also has a player option and might bolt for a chance to start. His paycheck is $9.5M, and that may create difficulties in bringing back the team's free agents. Mr. Olshey seems to know what he's doing....
Perhaps? I haven't really seen him play in the past couple seasons, so I don't really know what he offers at this point in his career. But, I imagine it'd be better than any of our back-up wings.
Portland has nearly 15 million (23% of the cap) and 7 roster slots tied up in TRob, Meyers, CJ, Wright, Claver, Barton, & Crabbe. Yeah, every once in a while one of those guys is actually productive in a game. But far too often, they produce nothing except inconsistency. For chrissakes, 5 of them were on the floor for nearly 5 minutes in the last game and managed to score 2 points. I like Olshey and I'll like him more if he adds a consistent bench producer
I am sorry but I have to LOL at that, if you don't think we could improve our bench with an eye on the playoffs then we have nothing to talk about. I am talking about a serious title run and adding a consistent bench player would be a huge plus IMO
