Well with T-mac being out for the year I think we're the only option on the table. Unless the Spurs really want to give up Mason and George Hill.
^ So ignorant. VC is having a great season. He is not a "huge downgrade." In fact, he's in upgrade in every facet of the game compared to the SF's we have. He's a strong 2nd or 3rd option instantly. Downgrade he is not. Hater.
Trade speculation: most media members admit to not having a freaking clue what is going to happen. The consensus remains that KP will move RLEC; more and more speculation thinks it will be in a big move. The consensus take on the Chandler deal was that it sets a baseline of expectations for what expiring contracts are worth in this economy, meaning RLEC should bring a primo return. Multiple media members said they would be disappointed if RLEC was not dealt. -BE
Most of these so-called trade discssions are actually negotiaion tactics. Even if you only want one player you have to make the other team think you have other options.
And quite possibly you can make a competitor overpay for the asset you don't want (Houston for Carter in this case prior to the Tmac news) if they think you are bidding against them. barfo
Yup. When there's incentive to be rumoured to have interest in as many players as possible and no disincentives, that's going to lead to a lot of disinformation.
I love the thought of saavy vets helping us out for the short term, Vince's stats are less impressive and he doesn't have as many highlights as before, but he's always been a star who plays more the 'right' way (UNC perhaps) and is a good passer and high BBIQ guy (cutting backdoor etc). I say grab two of em and balance out the team's youthfulness w/o mortgaging the future... http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bweuot POR Out: Raef, Blake, Frye, Outlaw POR In: Carter, Andre Miller PHI Out: Andre Miller, Reggie Evans PHI In: Blake, Frye, Swift They save some money on Evans and add some shooting. Maybe a bit of a reach here, but we could add a sweetner or pick or something and Dre is expiring. NJ Out: Carter, Swift NJ In: Outlaw, Raef, Evans They save quite a bit long-term, add a young piece (that they supposedly adore) to run with Harris, and that's about it. Mainly a salary move. But always good to wipe liabilities off the books when arena financing is on the line. We become the most fun and entertaining team in basketball for sure! While gaining valuable experience and two guys who "play the right way". Miller/Sergio Roy/Rudy Carter/Batum Aldridge/Shav? Oden/Pryzbilla
-This seems too detailed a report to be complete rubbish. -That said, KP says "If you hear about the trade, that trade is already dead."
Did Chad Ford just inadvertantly say that trading Carter for Outlaw would upgrade the Nets SF position? You the shit Chad Ford!
Carter has been playing mostly SG this year for the Nets. Simmons, Hayes, and Hassell have been getting most of the Nets SF minutes
If this Carter deal goes down, I wonder if there could be a future plan for a perpetually rotating big expiring contract to get a good experienced player every few years.
I'm Travis Outlaw's biggest fan. He is one of my favorite players in the entire league and YET, I don't hate this deal. Vince Carter is a veteran with playoff experience. He shoots the three about as well as Outlaw and he is also a proven clutch player like Outlaw. The downside to the deal is that Outlaw is only 24. He can go a long way with us. Vince Carter only has about 3-4more years in him. Like I said. I love Outlaw but I don't hate this deal. It's definitely interesting and alluring.
