I've been looking forward to a tougher defensive team. Also, I've been looking forward to more pick and roll, which it appears our new bigs are pretty good at. Kanter does appear to be more elite on offense than the guys we have. But yes, he needs to improve his defense. A lot.

I believe the operative word in my sentence is "wanted".

Just go with "unkyard Dog" and everybody will figure it out eventually.

Wait, are you saying that the team that was unwilling to max Harden and traded him for scraps haven't already sent that message already?

defensively I think he leans over too much while gaurding the post, resulting in a lack of base strength. Basically he puts too much weight on his opponent so that when his opponent backs down, he has nothing to compensate.
Everything else just looks like he isn't sure of what to do, or is standing too tall to make a solid play defensively. I don't think it's effort, and I think he could be at least an average defender with a little bit of work. That and becoming a 20/10 guy, could make him an allstar. I would be happy to get him

As I said I have been waffling. I love his offensive skills. My concern is the effect on his teammates when he is making 3-4 times more money than they are and not putting forth the same amount of effort. (Pure speculation on my part) Will that piss them off? It did in Utah and he was not making that much.

After the miscue of not maxing Harden, this could be OKC's Jermaine O'Neal moment.

Let's hope they think Dale Davis is better for their "win now" mentality!

For all the people who bitched about Batum playing for France, don't worry: Turkey doesn't want Kanter.

(That article made me approve of Kanter's politics, if not his defense.)

Well, if we measure offense by ORPM and defense by DRPM, and overall game by the combined stat, RPM - there are 59 centers better than Kanter. So here are some that we could get:
    Greg Stiemsma (57)
    Ryan Hollins (46)
    Reggie Evans (42)
    Dewayne Dedmon (33)
    And my personal favorite:
    Joel Freeland (31)

Just a hunch, but I think you could get one of those for under $17M per year.

That's quite a group of guys who are "meh" on both ends of the court. Their numbers may add up the way you want, but if you honestly think that those guys are difference makers, I don't know what to say.

I think the point is that neither is Kanter, not that all of those guys are great.

I'm saying I'd like to think they'd learned from it. If we were in the same boat with Dame 2-3 years from now as we just experienced with LA, you don't think the LA situation would be in the back of management's head? How many times did management appear shy to deal young talent after the Jermaine debacle? Teams tend to operate out of paranoia of making the same mistake multiple times in the short-term.

    yes, but it's silly point.
It makes sense to get a guy who is +20 -20 in hopes that he can fix the -20.
Getting a guy that's +2 -1 is "meh". He gonna improve to +6 -1? Yawn.
