12-17, so we're almost out of them.

Nah. The cap is expected to go way up in the next two years. His contract won't seem so horrible next season

He'd have made more if OKC had signed him directly to a max deal.

But if they match it will screw with them.

Yeah but they didn't want to sign him to a max deal, even one with lower raises and a trade kicker.

According to some tweets I saw, he was already offered as much as $15.5mil per season by OKC. What's $2mil more. And the kicker isn't that big of a deal. Guys can waive it. They are more than willing when the situation they're already in isn't ideal (see Roy Hibbert). Let's not make it bigger than it really is.

And again, when OKC finally buckled and gave him the max, it'd be more than what PDX could give him.

We didn't want to sign dame for max. Nobody wants to pay max. They want the best deals that offer the most flexibility. But some things are inevitable.

In 3 years, Kanter will be in a position he can choose to be a FA. He'll only be 26. If his career follows a similar trajectory to LA, he's going to be maxed again.

I want Kanter but if they don't get him I'm fine, as A Seattle guy I'm supposed to wish death upon OKC.

An OKC fan tweeted D. Mayberry (a Thunder beat writer) that he hoped in 24 hours Thunder would send Kanter packing. Mayberry tweeted back "ain't gonna happen", FWIW.

Just tweeted at him asking him if he has any news on it. A response is doubtful.
