With 10 games for the 2019-2020 season in the records, it is time to review the swish3 performance of Blazers and opponents and comment.

    Oct 23 DEN 100-108 loss with swish3 loss scoring 7 of 28 vs DEN 18 of 32 (thus a 33 point swish3 deficit)
    Oct 25 SAC 122-112 win with swish3 loss scoring 11 of 30 vs SAC 15 of 37 (a 12 point deficit)
    Oct 27 DAL 121-119 win with swish3 loss (but % win) scoring 9 of 22 vs DAL 13 of 50 (a 12 point deficit)
    Oct 28 SAS 110-113 loss with swish3 win scoring 10 of 33 vs SAS 7 of 22 (a 9 point plus)
    Oct 30 OKC 102-99 win with big swish3 win scoring 17 of 35 vs OKC 4 of 27 (a 38 point plus!)
    Nov 2 PHI 128-129 loss with swish3 loss scoring 9 of 34 vs PHI 11 of 33 (a 6 point deficit)
    Nov 4 GSW 118-127 loss with swish3 win (but % loss) scoring 13 of 40 vs GSW 10 of 26 (a 9 point plus)
    Nov 7 LAC 101-107 loss with swish3 win scoring 11 of 39 vs LAC 4 of 23 (a 21 point plus)
    Nov 8 BRK 115-119 loss with swish3 loss scoring 11 of 30 vs BRK 16 of 37 (a 15 point deficit)
    Nov 10 ATL 124-113 win with swish3 win scoring 12 of 36 vs ATL 11 of 41 (a 3 point plus)

Scoring via the swish3 has been about on par with the opponents for this composite, but the 36.7% swish3 team average with 12 of 32.7 is about 4% too low and scoring 15 on about 39 attempts would favor more wins.

In the Nov 12 SAC 99-107 loss, we lost the swish3 contest scoring 8 of 30 vs SAC 11 of 32, with a lot of late SAC swish3 scores and PTL misses in the 4th Q after a disappointing 3rd Q in which we had turnovers, missed FT, and were deficient on defense. We need to find 5 Blazers who can average scoring 3 swish3s each to become more competitive. Let's imagine that Rodney, Simons, Dame, Kent, and CJ can focus swish3 accuracy and perhaps Mario and Skal can progress to add the swish3 scoring needed to get wins this season.

Problem is with all the injuries we simply IMO "need too much" this yr and we really need to focus on the next 2-3 yrs after this. I don't want us to make a desperate move now and squander a pick/player for perhaps a one yr rental or a guy we don't really want need after this season. If we can get somebody cheap fine, if not lets develop what little talent after Dame/CJ/ANT we have on this weak roster at this time. I hope Dame can agree with this strategy and I hate to squander a yr of his prime but am starting to think that may be the best choice. Assuming Ant's development continues I would explore CJ trades in late Jan- not a fun yr but sometimes you have to be realistic

In the Nov 13 106-114 loss to TOR, the Blazers scored 17 of 48 (35%) swish3s vs TOR 14 of 32 (44%) in a game with late swish3s made by Siakam and VanVleet that locked in the win. This was a problem game for Dame who shot 2 of 7 swish3s and only 2 of 12 FG and totaled only 9 points (36 min).

Rodney scored 5 of 10, CJ scored 3 of 7, Simons scored 3 of 8, Dame scored 2 of 7, Kent scored 2 of 8, Mario scored 1 of 3, and Nassir scored 1 of 5. Defensive deficiencies, especially in the 3rd and 4th Q allowed TOR to pull away. Defense, ball movement, and communication must be improved to get wins.

In the Nov 26 121-116 win over SAS, the Blazers scored 13 of 39 vs SAS 5 of 18, which is a 24 point advantage. This was a good game for CJ and Hassan who contributed key plays in the 4th Q, and a better game for passing and defense, especially in the 4th Q.

CJ led scoring 6 of 11, Rodney scored 2 of 3, Kent and Mario each scored 1 of 3, Simons scored 1 of 4, Nassir scored 1 of 5, Dame scored 1 of 9, and Skal was of 0 of 1.

The hot shooting in the 1st Q, determination to win, and better defense all contributed to getting the much needed 5th win. To be competitive against HOU, more than 40 swish3 attempts will be needed to get to beyond scoring 15 swish3s, as HOU will most likely score 15+ on 45+ attempts.

This is a strange response to a post that I made during the Playoffs, and I don't know what you mean by "it."
I am impressed that Meyers now leads the NBA in 3P% at 68.4%, but I do not expect that you will acknowledge that achievement.
For your better understanding, my post of April 11 was intended to encourage Blazer fans to make positive suggestion comments in support of winning instead of making anti-fan comments, given the role that confidence plays in basketball. Winners imagine that they will win.

The Blazers lost by a 24 point margin in the Nov 18 HOU 108-132 loss, which is equal to the losing margin. Blazers scored 11 of 36 vs HOU 17 of 45. Blazers were out-rebounded 44 to 58 and played weak defense, especially in the 2nd and 3rd Q.

CJ again led scoring 5 of 12, Kent scored 2 of 5, Rodney and Gary each scored 1 of 2, Simons scored 1 of 5, Dame scored 1 of 6, and Nassir was 0 of 4. It is good to see CJ doing well, and we need Rodney, Kent, Simons, Dame, and Mario to contribute more to add up to 15+ needed to win.

Last year our 10 W 3 L record (76.9%) was a great start, and we looked forward to win 11. This year our 5 W 8 L record (38.5%) has us looking for win number 6 and wondering. After HOU, the 5 W 9 L record makes it 35.7%! Let's hope that win 6 comes Nov 19 at the NOP.

I'd risk saying that usually when you lose by a certain number of points, it's equal to your losing margin.

No Sarni. The 24 point losing margin in swish3 scoring, which is the subject of this thread, coincides with the the final score margin. To be competitive against HOU, the Blazers are going to need swish3 scoring of 17 and total scoring better than 132 based on this game. Let's find the combination of Blazers, passing, off-ball movement, defense, and rebounding that gives a good chance for a win against HOU, DEN, LAL, LAC, and BOS.

If we hit 11 and they hit 17, the margin in "swish3 scoring" was 18 not 24.

OK Sarni. The swish3 margin was 18 and I made a mistake.

The Blazers won the Nov 19 NOP swish3 contest scoring 16 of 29 vs NOP 13 of 36, which is a 9 point advantage. The Blazers lost 104-115 and had a 12 point FT deficit. In his first game as a Blazer, Melo had 10 points, but 5 TO and 5 PF in 23 min in a game that Dame missed due to back spasms.

CJ again led scoring 4 of 10, Kent and Simons each scored 3 of 5, Nassir scored 2 of 2, Melo scored 2 of 3, Mario and Gary each scored 1 of 1, and Rodney was 0 of 2. The distributed 55.2% swish3 scoring and exceeding 15 is good, but must be aided by better defense and more FT scored.

The Blazers again played inconsistent defense that weak in the 3rd and 4th Q, and were out-rebounded 48-53. This was another strong game for Nassir who had 12 points scoring 5 of 6 FG and 11 rebounds in 22 min. Hassan also was strong with 14 points scoring 5 of 7 FG and 4 of 4 FT and 14 rebounds in 29 min.

The Blazers won the swish3 contest in the Nov 21 129-137 loss to MIL, scoring 17 of 39 (43.6%) vs MIL 16 of 43. This was a game without Dame or Hassan, and CJ showed that he can lead the team with a season high 10 assists. MIL out-rebounded us 41-58.

CJ lead scoring 5 of 10, Gary scored 3 of 4, Melo scored 3 of 5, Skal scored 2 of 4, Tolliver scored 2 of 6, Rodney scored 1 of 1, Nassir scored 1 of 2, while Kent missed 3 and Simons missed 4 attempts. This was a nicely distributed barrage of swish3 scoring that kept us in the game.

The game was excellent for CJ, Skal, Gary, and Rodney. CJ scored a season high 37 points on 15 of 29 FG and 2 of 2 FT and 2 steals in 38 min. Skal scored a season high 22 points on 10 of 16 FG with 12 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 1 steal in 28 min. Gary started and scored 13 points on 5 of 7 FG with 1 rebound, 2 assists, and 2 steals in 20 min. Rodney scored 11 on 5 of 5 FG with 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in 29 min.

This was an important developmental step for the Blazers as the season high 32 assists show that we can improve as a team. The level of play in this game, boosted by improved rebounding, and with Dame returning, should be enough to get wins 6 and 7 in the next 2 games.

Per David Locke, Morris is currently the best catch-and-shoot player from three in the league: 51%

The Knicks are a dumpster fire and wouldn't be too difficult to get.

The Blazers won the swish3 contest scoring 14 of 40 in the Nov 23 104-110 loss to CLE, who scored 10 of 31. The Blazers were again badly out-rebounded 38-51 and had a 14 point FT deficit.

Dame led scoring 4 of 9, Tolliver scored 3 of 4, Simons scored 2 of 3, Gary scored 2 of 4, CJ scored 2 of 7, and Rodney scored 1 of 2. Missing all swish3s were Nassir 1, Kent 2, and Melo 8. Maybe Melo should follow the rule to stop attempts after missing 3 consecutive swish3 attempts (which defines a cold hand).

After the chance to learn how to assist from Giannis in Thursday's MIL game, the Blazers seem to have regressed in this game. The outstanding 6 of 6 swish3 shooting by Jordan Clarkson was a major factor in the win, and points out the need for a hot Blazer swish3 hand.

The Blazers lost the swish3 contest in the 117-94 win over the CHI Bulls Nov 25. Blazers scored 8 of 27 (29.6%) vs CHI 9 of 39 (23.1%). The weak swish3 shooting was good enough in this game because we out-rebounded 55-37 and played better defense. Melo had 25 points in 30 min.

Melo led scoring 4 of 7, CJ scored 2 of 7, Dame scored 1 of 4, and Rodney scored 1 of 5. The Blazer bench missed all swish3s. Kent and Nassir each missed 1 and Simons missed 2. Seeing Dame, Melo, CJ, Hassan, and Rodney working together is fun to watch.

Getting win 6 is important. All 5 starters in double figures, communication, rebounding, better defense, and the return of an energetic Dame to lead the team appeared to add up to a much better team. Let's see this kind of play and find a way to get the missing 7 swish3s and beat the Thunder!

The Blazers won the swish3 contest in the 139-119 win Nov 27 over the OKC Thunder. Blazers scored 14 of 30 vs OKC 11 of 35, and Blazers scored a perfect 24 of 24 FT and won rebounding 54-38. Blazers had all 5 starters in double figures, led by up to 35, and dominated the game, never trailing.

Dame led scoring 5 of 9, Rodney scored a perfect 4 of 4, CJ scored 4 of 7, and Simons scored 1 of 4. Missing all swish3s were Melo 1, Kent 1, Nassir 1, and Tolliver 3. It was great to see Dame leading all scoring with 27 on 7 of 15 FG in 29 min, CJ with 22 on 8 of 16 FG in 28 min, Hassan with 21 on 8 of 13 FG and 16 RB in 22 min, Melo with 19 on 9 of 11 FG in 28 min, and Rodney with 14 on 5 of 6 FG in 25 min.

Rodney has defined himself as the hot swish3 hand, now at 46.4% for the season, and should be shooting at least 6 swish3 attempts per game. It is good to see Dame and CJ shooting well, and we need for 2 more Blazers to contribute to get us back to 15+. Let's continue with the blowouts!

The Blazers lost the swish3 contest in the 107-103 win Nov 29 over CHI Bulls. Blazers scored 10 of 30 vs CHI 14 of 38. Hassan had an outstanding franchise record 10 blocks improving the Blazer defense, and we won the rebounding 49-47. Several Blazers contributed swish3 scoring, 3 with 3 each.

Rodney scored 3 of 5, CJ scored 3 of 6, Dame scored 3 of 11, and Melo scored 1 of 3. No bench players made a swish3, with Kent, Skal, and Nassir each missing 1 and Simons 2. The improved passing and communication was enough to beat the Bulls, and needs to progress.

The Clippers game next Tues will be a strong test requiring 15+ swish3 scores for a good chance to win in LA. The 3 days to practice allow for further development to improve defense, develop off-ball movement and timing, and ready plays to maximize swish3 scoring on catch and shoots.

Now that we are up to an 8 and 12 record, we are 9 games behind the 17 and 2 LA Lakers. Let's get more wins!
