I'd consider playing Leonard if he could nail 77% of his three-pointers on a decent number of attempts. Even then, it'd be a hard decision, considering the points he'll hemorrhage on the other end of the court.
It is too much to hope for these numbers in every game, I agree, but remember that the 77% came in the playoffs, and Meyers has even shot 100% of swish3s. When he is in the zone, excellence is possible. Let's play to the strength of the Blazers.
It's sort of a amusing. I mean, if you're going to pick a gimmick, being a Meyers Lemon honk is definitely original.
Column headings please. Are those per game numbers, per 36 minute numbers, per 100 possession numbers? Honestly, I can only guess what each "column" means. I assume the third one is TS% since that seems to be how they are sorted. And is it TS% we are supposedly after or good 3FG%. That list seems like a combination of guys who never shoot more than 3 feet from the basket and guys who make their living shooting > 23 feet from the basket. BNM
This thread has moved far away from TS%. The challenge remains. How do the Blazers maximize the potential for greater success?
You never answered my question: is it TS% we are supposedly after or good 3FG%? If it's a TS% leader, Tyson Chandler is available. His career TS% is .624, he led the league in TS% three years in a row, and his .703 TS% this season would have led the league if he'd had enough FGA to qualify. But, he's a decade older than Meyers, makes even more money and hasn't made a single 3-point field goal in his entire 16--year career. If you want a TS% leader, he's your guy. Would you trade Meyers and his .507 TS% for Chandler and his vastly superior .703 TS%? BNM
Looking at just TS% is stupid. Need more then just that otherwise you will have mostly players who do nothing but dunk and players who do nothing but shoot the 3.
OK. You make a valid point. Yes, the focus is better on the swish3, which is my favorite strategy for winning. In that case, the optimum is Kyle Korver, if we go for adding experience, or since Kyle is unlikely to be available, go for optimized shooting by Allen Crabbe and Meyers after summer improvements. The TS% leader would be Rudy Gobert at 68.3%, but perhaps Jusuf might move into (at least toward) this role in the coming months. Tyson, despite that outstanding TS% of 70.3% would not be my preference because he does not shoot swish3s, as you noted.
