What you see are the posts of a Blazer fan who sees excellent shooting achievement and significant improvement in Meyers as a valued Blazer who has many more points, and wins of close games, to contribute. I understand that Meyers benefits by having fans, and aim to be one. As the center to bring scoring and energy to relieve Jusuf and Ed, Meyers can make important contributions to taking the steps toward the Championship. The 1803 points that he has scored and shooting 4 of 4 swish3s should be recognized and valued from him as they are from other Blazers. IMHO, it only makes sense to acknowledge and encourage the documented scoring performance to optimize wins. I imagine that Meyers can and should be adding 6 points to Blazer scoring. On the road to a Championship that now appear in reach, it is better to be positive. If those who think that being 4th among active Blazers in point scored and among the leaders in % shooting (see the Current All-Times Standings thread) are to be ignored would objectively review the statistics, you might recognize the negative bias you are showing. It doesn't make sense to me when I read repeated harsh criticisms that appear to be habitual rather than analytical. I think that Blazer fans can do better by paying attention to optimizing assets.
Hey @swish3 what font do you use for your posts and why do you use it? That cannot be a default font.
What? The defender was at least 5 feet away when Meyers started his motion. The first one the defender put a usdd up 3 feet away after closing slighlty.. Those weren't really contested at all.
The font is Arial, the first of the font choices, and one which does not have serifs. The statistics are real, from basketballref.com.
Swish3 I made 5 threes in a row a Moda Center before. Why shouldn't the Blazers trade Meyers and sign me, this song $10M in salary, and I could provide the 5 guarunteed Swish3s needed to optimize our scoring margin?
An opponent flying at the shooter, and less than 3 feet away before the release, looks like contested to me. But maybe we have different definitions of contested. In any event, Meyers can score when guarded, and 4 for 4 shooting earns the playing time to do it again.
Fact1 - Leonard cannot score when contested. Fact2 - Leonard will not even attempt such a foolish shot when contested.
No he cant, he wasnt being guarded there. Port a defender within 5 feet of him before he starts his shooting motion and he can't get a shot off.
BonesJones, we see it differently. I watch that clip and see deliberate accurate scoring that is valuable for winning.
Accurate scoring in a very small sample based off sagging defense that teams know they should no longer play against him. Teams know to run him off the 3pt line now, and that's a disaster waiting to happen for us.
Wait, scoring four three pointers in a game a year and a half ago should earn him playing time this season? The reason he doesn’t play at all anymore is he isn’t good enough. He has no serious future in NBA once his contract expires. He has won the lottery with the $40M contract because normally a player like him does not make that in his entire career.
You are right. I do not get the negative expectations and do not see the "disaster." It would be great to see Meyers try it, and tonight would be a favorable time.
I don't expect to see Meyers run off the 3 point arc. Instead, I expect to see him spreading the Blazer offense, screening for Dame and CJ, working free by moving without the ball, rebounding, passing, defending, and adding fresh energy value that the Blazers need for keeping up 2nd half scoring. You are implying that Meyers is easier to defend beyond the 3 point arc than others, but I wouldn't concede that he is. If the Clippers try to double him, Meyers will find the open man and make pass it. I would rather have Meyers shooting than Evan or Pat. If you consider the fatigue factor in the 2nd half, it makes sense to have Meyers shooting. This is even more important when others have been missing swish3s.
