I do appreciate your optimism...it's good to see a fan with your take keep bringing it! I liked this post for the optimism...Zach however has instincts and timing Meyers hasn't really shown yet.
If it's his wife, that's both sad, and hilarious. Especially if they're doing it for the sole purpose of trolling fans. I actually hope thats what theyre doing, because that'd be fucking awesome.
I agree with the OP that Portland needs another 3 point threat or two. I also agree with the board that Meyers wont be providing that threat for all the listed reasons. Hopefully Collins and the SF they acquire next offseason bring that to the table going forward. STOMP
These comments prove my point that some of you who are ignoring the team leading statistical facts for Meyers. He is the best swish3 shooter and has better numbers than Zach. If those who are negative would look at Meyers this year through the same lens as they are viewing Zach, you can see why I am a Meyers fan. What this forum can do is to encourage or bash players. The first choice can help with confidence, but the second choice works against the Blazers. If the Blazers are to make it to the WCF, getting the best from the available players is important. That is what my comments are about. Try to evaluate this without the bias. Playing our leading player, especially in the quarters when Blazer scoring is lagging, will improve the % of wins.
We should see 15 swish3s per game in the next 10 contests, and have the attempts taken by the best shooters. I imagine that Meyers will be an important contributor. But I do not imagine more 16 point 3rd quarters with tired players missing while the coaches fail to substitute. There should be no more 5 swish3 deficits (like the Suns).
Well that's exactly where Meyers will contribute. In your imagination. You realize that once Meyers hits a 3, teams will simply take that away from him, what then?
No, other teams will not take away swish3 scoring by Meyers! You need to remember the 17 point scoring game this year, several efficient scoring games in past years, the hard fact season statistics (including FT3%, FG%, PER, WS/48, and TS%. Instead of missed swish3s by Zach or ET or others, Meyers can be making 50% of them and bringing us to 15 swish3 scoring per game. In my opinion, I would give him the chance.
He is guaranteed to shoot 50%. He has scored 9 times on 18 attempts this season, this sample size cannot lie. It doesn't matter if you contest him, close his eyes or cut his legs. He is GUARANTEED to score 50%.
Meyers swish3 scoring is based on the season statistical record. What he has done can contribute to increased Blazer wins--maybe even including the next 5 games. I see him as a valuable scoring force if played at the right times to keep the points coming. He has done it before.
Based on an extremely small sample size in garbage time when the defense allowed him to shoot. So he makes one, they guard it, then what? How the hell is he supposed to get 6 threes a game?
