Just bad images of a potential FA being in the city on the day of a Presser, I guess?

Not that things can't be done via fax, but it's interesting Hibbert is in Portland for a physical and to sign his max contract in person, while Batum is in Spain right now getting ready to practice. Quite a contrast in priorities IMO. If Batum is at a mandatory practice for team France, then I'll give him a pass. Am I looking at it too closely? Probably...

Well, I think it has more to do with the time and schedule of All Things NBA.... need to introduce the rooks, get them in town for practice and summer league prep, moratorium lifts tomorrow at 9PM Pacific, he needs to come to town for a physical.....

Well, if Quick is right (he believes there will never be an official offer sheet to sign), then there's no need for Batum to be in town.

Maybe. But I do think it underscores that Hibbert actually wants to be here and Nic's agent (and Nic?) are probably more interested in a leverage play ... or is at least as interested in playing contract games as he is signing a Wolves offer sheet.

The Pacers are matching Portland's 4-year, $58 million offer to Roy Hibbert, according to a source

So do they match right away? or do they hamstring the Blazers and wait til the last possible second.

The best thing is that there will be fans that will really be disappointed

Now lets hope that Hibbert makes it public that he really wants to be a Trail Blazer and begs the Pacers not to match. :)

I am. I didn't have my hopes all the way up on the meter, but I had excitement vibes going. It's not for real, yet... :crossesfingers:

and fuck face Crapzano will use that to his advantage and bash the organization for going after a free agent that we knew would have the offer matched.

You can't blame the Blazers for trying. I am not sure that there was really anyone else out there that was realistic.

He shouldn't. It was the right thing to do. There was just no way he was ever going to come here

Just blowing shit out their asses right now. We have no clue what the contract looks like, nor do the Pacers FO. Especially with the new CBA, who knows what loopholes can be found in maximizing money to a player and his contract. I've always said it was good to go after Hibbert, but we probably wouldn't get it. I still think it's a 90% chance they match, but I still think they are going to have to see the deal structure before they can make such bold statements.

The most "toxic" they can make it is 17M, 12.05M, 12.57M, 13.09M for 4/54.71 (notice, NOT quite a max b/c of the signing bonus) and 8.5M due when the contract is signed.
