What we need to do is throw deals at Hornets fans, and once we hit the threshold where both sides feel like they're getting ripped off, we'll have an idea of what's being discussed.
None taken...... but this is why we have Cho right? A CBA/cap expert. We have the right pieces to make a trade work and have the right GM who understands the nuances and finer details of the CBA that will not only give NO the most cap relief but will also supply them with young talent in order to prevent NO from being a complete bottom feeder for years to come. New York may be able to give them the relief but I think they come up short on the talent side of the equation.
Things to consider from New Orleans' perspective: Talent to trade: (plus any number of draft picks) 1. Magic (Nelson + Gortat and change) 2. Blazers (Batum + Fernandez + Miller + a center, and perhaps change) 3. Mavericks (Haywood + Terry and change) 4. Knicks (nothing) Cap relief: (Paul + Okafor = $26 mil+, probably some cash considerations) 1. Mavericks (Chandler + Butler + Stevenson = $27 mil, or less a player or two and add some talent) 2. Magic (Carter = $17.5 mil, + talent) 3. Blazers (Miller + Przybilla = $14.6 mil, + talent) 4. Knicks (Curry + Azubuike + remaining cap space = $16 mil, no talent) As far out of their path as possible: 1T. Knicks (other conference) 1T. Magic (other conference) 3. Blazers (same conference) 4. Mavericks (same division)
Oh I get it you like mediocrity and getting spanked by LAL's superior length. Or maybe you like crushing heart break of 2nd best by not taking advantage of Miami's one weakness at center. It's all very clear now.
I don't get it either man. I think they hate rebounding and interior defense combined with youth. I KNOW CAMBY WILL SAVE US OR MAYBE JOEL!!!! THAT'S THE TICKET!!!!
I think it's funny that Simmons is trying to throw Boston into the mix. There's a reason why CP3 left Boston off his list. That team is going to SUCK when Garnett, Pierce, and Allen retire or are too old to play at a high level. How many years do they have left? One? Two? Rondo IS the future of that team, and if he were to be traded for CP3, who else would make that team relevant in the post-big three era? I'd bet Paul bolts in two years. Nice try Bill, but your team is headed for another spell of shitty teams.
I think it's all the injuries he's had to go through, it really wears on the fans as well. I don't want to see him go, but if he gets hurt again, it will just be yet another setback, and i'm not sure a lot of fans want to go through that again.
I'm very torn here. I really like Oden. I think he's still got a chance to be a HoF-level center. I REALLY really like him. But CP is a likely HoFer. He's just entering his prime. He still even has some room to improve. I don't want to trade Oden, but if push came to shove I might be willing to in order to get CP... especially if Okafor is coming back so we have an average+ starting center... Ed O.
Batum is certainly not "change". Rudy might be depending on the opinion of the GM. Didn't mention Bayless.
I think it's funny that fans for every team in the league are saying, "we should get Paul." I really think there's only a handful of teams in the league that offer what the Hornets will want, and even fewer that can match what the Blazers can offer. But hey, one can dream, right?
