He didn't plateau. He regressed. Probably because Terry was obsessed with everyone stretching the floor. Had Meyers been coached by someone else, it's possible he could have been something.

I would give the credit to Olshey, not Stotts. Nas was the #1 player in his high school class. Yes, even ahead of Zion. The only other player besides LeBron to win MVP's of both the Jordan Classic and McDonald's All-American games. Simons was also one of the top prospects in his class.

Both didn't get going until Stotts departed and Chauncey actually utilized their abilities.

bolded for emphasis. Stotts never utilized players talents. He shoe-horned them into 3 point shooting all the time.

Ant improved more in one year under billups than the previous couple under Stotts, especially defensively. It’s why I’m optimistic about him as a defender. He’s still young enough to where he can be molded by Billups.

As for Nas, billups just empowered him. Stotts never trusted him and pulled him as soon as he’d make a couple mistakes (a familiar theme with Terry and young players btw)

Idk what Sharpe is gonna turn into, but he landed in the best possible situation with Billups.

God I fucking hated that. Meanwhile CJ could chuck the worst shot possible 10 times in a row and Stotts didn't care

Yeah the double standards he had for players was maddening. Had no problem calling out/benching everyone except CJ (and Dame but he at least earned that)

They already had eclipsed expectations under Stotts. And Ant still needs to show that he can play at his mid-season level while sharing the ball with Dame, otherwise his improvement under Billups may not be as informative as assumed.

And look where they were drafted! A year later, people realized they weren't nearly as good as their HS reputations. (If that's not the most concerning thing in a thread about Sharpe, I don't know what is. So many top prospects get exposed during their one year after HS.) To then turn into something more promising than Skal/Giles has to point to at least decent coaching.

Or his job will be easier playing with Dame, I mean two can play this game. He was seeing defensive coverages saved for superstars before he was shut down. There's gonna be an adjustment, but his job isnt gonna get more difficult.

Everybody and their mama thought we underperformed. That's when the "trade Lillard" happened. Because Terry was beyond incompetent in the playoffs. And that's why he can't find a head coaching job since.

Who realized what? While Ant was always a project, Terry was giving Tolliver and Hezonja minutes over Nas. There's nothing to suggest he wasn't good enough to play. He already had an NBA body coming in while Ant did not. Squandered because Terry wasn't in the mood to develop anyone so he just went with vets who were lucky to be in the league.

The team was actually playing pretty well when Layman was getting regular minutes in Layman's last season. Then toward the end of the season he stopped giving Layman as much time. In the playoffs in the quadruple OT game he drained the starters almost completely and lucky for him Denver didn't think to put energy into the game neither. I think that game is over if Layman plays in OT because no one had any energy and that is where Layman excelled.

Whatever we did in the 2019 Playoffs should generally praised considering that roster had no business being in the WCF. Layman, hasn't proven to be worthy of meaningful playoff minutes in Minnesota either.

I'm not sure why fan bases fall in love with 3rd string guys so often.

Nas was a top 3 player in his class in some circles. Ant was talked about being a top 10 pick had he decided to go back to school. Just because they fell in the draft doesn't mean Stotts is responsible for the realization of their obvious gifts. For example, both of them are noted hard workers on top of their physical skillsets. Stotts has nothing to do with that.

I never really noticed how big his shoulders were until this pic. Maybe he could add another 15-20lbs of muscle and still retain most of that athleticism. This kid is a beast...
