People need to realize that Neil is exactly who the Vulcans want running the Blazers and they support him to the hilt which is their prerogative.
They themselves had a big hand in how this PC was managed, through legal. Guys like Olshey are employed at the pleasure of a Seattle conglomerate that is centralized in every way. Neil is the conduit for how they want to run the organization, it ereally is pretty simple. The Blazers are simply a Seattle run organization which is cool for some and maybe not for others.

I think Neil, for all his faults, is just an easy target for fans who want to complain about any and everything. In that while Neil hasn't done the best for the team, he's in a lose lose situation. He says anything smart ass, and he's an ass clown. He doesn't answer a question (which every GM does), he's a jack ass. He answers a question and he's throwing someone under the bus.

It's predictable what people will say about him, especially with our local media. The guys at 1080 are huge clowns. that guy from blazers edge is a knob. canzano is a tool, etc.
And it's not because they're not homers/suck up to the team, it's because they're more interested in getting recognition/hits/likes etc than they are about anything else.

That said, I hope they trade CJ and fire Neil.

    Nice strawman.

I never said people shouldn’t judge Chauncey. Kindly point out where I did. Or, did you mean to quote someone else perhaps?

Jeez, man, you don’t have to fight everyone here. The mixed metaphor was using “knock it out of the park” to describe being a successful basketball coach. Literally a mixed metaphor.

I think it's more the moderator heard "1997" and thought "Oh no it's time for me to do my job!". When in reality it was a good question and not about the actual case just how it affected Billups--think it would have helped his case to hear how he changed and such.

TBF I responded to TheHobbit because they accused me of saying people shouldn’t judge Billups, which I never have said.

Im still a bit salty from the BE ban, too. Thanks for the reality check!

It was not the question to ask after a barrage of those..it was the theme and as I mentioned...at some point he should have welcomed him and his family to Portland and asked a basketball question...which there was a serious lack of...to me the nipped it off because it had become too much of a theme...Neil and Chauncey alloted most of their introduction answering that question as well...it was redundant...plus the last conference question Quick asked was to Terry Stotts being...do you think you have job security after losing in the first round...not a great way to end a season even if Stotts ended up fired...I'm sick of the media snark and lack of confidence from guys like him...I started last season thinking Quick was doing good work but when post game interviews came up he was habitually an asshole in my view...Dame, CJ, Neil and Terry and Nurk would roll their eyes when he asked a question...I think the franchise has lost some Jason Quick tolerance....I know I have and its a shame because he's a good writer

Local media would never survive in a bigger market. Probably why you never see any of them make it big, instead we end up stuck with them forever.

I remember watching ESPN once during the Oregon recruiting NCAA investigation and who pops up on the air? John Canzano with his “insider” scoop. He wanted so bad to make a national name for himself.

Which he did, because the graphic beneath him said his name was John CALZONE. I used to have a screen shot of it many moons ago. One of the better laughs I’ve had at his expense.

Golliver made it. Chris Haynes got his start as a beat writer for Comcast SportsNet, covering the Blazers. That's how he got close to Dame in the first place. You can see his old bio here: https://www.nbcsports.com/northwest/get-know-chris-haynes

John Hollinger developed PER while working as a sports editor for the Oregonian.

I definitely wouldn't say no one.

Colin Cowherd was also local media. Bill O'Reilly was too.

green was a #9 the season before. If you’re trying to wins a Championship…Having veterans isn’t a bad thing. Did they have generational talent? Yes. Would they have reached that potential with mark jackson? I question that. Guy hasn’t had a job since

ya there's quite a few of em actually, shockingly so. Portland sports is a hotbed for talent that went national.

Rebecca Haarlow was the sideline reporter-- she's national for TNT now.

Steve Jones used to be the local guy here then did the national broadcasts on NBC.

David Kahn used to write for the O then became GM of the TWolves.

Henry Abbott was the father of modern NBA blogging, and his lil Truehoop site with blazer heavy coverage was bought by ESPN.

I've never agreed with you this much. Is this... bringing the forum together?

Shit Chris Haynes was going to Dames house for dinner during his rookie and early years. That’s why it’s scary when Haynes mentions anything negative with Dame and the Blazers

God someone is over sensitive. Knock it out of the park is a baseball reference. A home run is referred to as knocked out of the park, although it's very rare to be literally out of the park. Billups was hired to coach basketball so using a baseball reference is a mixed metaphor. Stop trying to find something to cry about.
