They had just made the Afflalo trade 6 games before Wes got hurt, and the injury game was a 5th consecutive win. They were the 3 seed at that time, and the newly acquired closing lineup was putting up the best net rating of any 5-man group in the league.

Yes, were it not for the Matthews/Afflalo injuries, that team was a contender.

Wow. That trade would have been a disaster.

This couldn't be more wrong @KingSpeed.

The Dallas game was their 5th win in a row, 4 of which were against West playoff teams. They were playing fantastic ball and would've gotten the 2nd seed pretty easily.

If they were interested in trading him it's called due diligence. Never close the door for any option. Also, these were likely trade proposals from other teams, not necessarily Portland shopping Aldridge.

It was extremely short sided by the Nets GM as he was also the one that blew the trade for the pick that landed us Lillard because they didn't think there was anyone beyond the top 3 they would want. Trying to build a team with over the hill superstars making big bucks is usually a recipe for disaster as has been proven out. Without Brooklyn's stupidity Boston likely isn't where they are today as it loaded Ainge up with all sorts of assets to help rebuild the Celtics. Ainge should thank Billy King for making him look good.
