That's ludicrous. As you can see tonight, we need a third scorer. LMA and Roy can't do it by themselves. That's why we lost to the Rockets in the playoffs. Unless we have a good game from either Outlaw or Rudy, we can't win. With Durant, we'd get that good game more often than not.
Its not a 3rd scorer we need, we need better perimeter defense. We lost to the Rockets because we couldn't defend their jump shooting, just like tonight. We don't need 3 guys to put up 20+ points per game...Roy and Aldridge played great. If Durant was in there, there would be 15 less shots for them.
That's the first time I've ever said that. I've been in denial. Look at Oden's offense. It's actually worse this year, even after all that work with Bayno. He averaged a career high 9 ppg last season. What has happened this season? I keep waiting for Oden to break out but it's not gonna happen. Yes, he's tall and can grab rebounds and yes, he can block shots. But he commits more fouls that blocks and we often concede the score on those possessions anyway.
Its not all about Oden's offense. The problem is we do not have a backup forward when LMA's resting and therefore the defense collapses on him (he will get better offensively still)
We need both. We need a third scorer AND we need better defense. 15 less shots for them? NO. 15 less shots for Rudy and Outlaw.\\\ Also-- look at Pierce, Allen, and KG. They each took less shots and won the championship. They'll probably do it again this season.
No, the shots would come at the expense of Roy and Aldridge. Durant is a primary offensive scoring machine who takes a lot of shots...he would be the first option, making Roy 2nd and Aldridge 3rd. You want a 3rd scoring option, Durant is a first scoring option. You want a 3rd scoring option, you trade for Gerald Wallace.
Using Nate's logic, the starting 5 that "got us 54 wins" has gotten us off to a 1-2 start, with the potential of being 1-3 in 24 hours. And with 2 home games that are potential losses, and a 3rd one that with the way the team is playing, isn't a lock for a W either. You can't blame this on Batum getting hurt, but the team just playing lazy defense, and not having any sort of flow on offense. It obviously too soon to throw in the towel, but they need to do something soon otherwise this season could lose any momentum from fans real quick. God knows we're a fickle bunch.
Less shots equal less points so if you want Greg to score more points perhaps you should get the team to give him the ball in good position, run the pick and roll with him, and lob it to him like we did in this game and he can get more shots which will equate more points. He commits more fouls because we have a ridiculous switching defense on pick and rolls and our perimeter plays suck absolute balls on defense half the time. Why do you think our other bigs are in trouble, too? What this team needs is to stop settling for jumpshots. Drafting Kevin Durant would not have helped this issue at all, at least under Nate.
Wrong. With a good coach and a commitment to winning, they would learn to share the ball and all three of them would be better for it.\\ That's like saying Jordan would've been a bad player to draft because Drexler was our #1 option. They could've been a dominant duo together.
excuses? our backup forward is Travis Outlaw. Oden is fine, he just needs more touches to get comfortable....outside of that, we do need a backup PF.
Yeah, we can do that with our current roster. Andre Miller rushing shitty shots, blake airballing 3's and Outlaw and Rudy playing out of the offense doesn't do much to validate taht we'd be better with Durant. The problem is not with Oden right now. The problem is the offense initiated by the back-court and perimeter defense.
And which guy out of Roy/Durant/Aldridge starts to play at a DPOY level on the other end of the floor? If you want a title contending 3some at least 1 of them has to play some defense.
