Absolutely. Just a perfect set up with contingencies for every scenario. It feels amazing to have a GM with a vision.

Fuckin NBA players, man. Why can't they realize how appealing this city is???

....because it really isn't. Portland is a mecca for young unemployed street kids and vagrants for one.
For two, most NBA players are not white, and this city is mainly white, meaning there are possibly lots of cultural differences for them.
For three, Portland is just fucking weird. Nobody likes weird unless youre some whack hippy/hiker person you see on Portlandia.

I was being facetious. As an unmarried non-white guy in my mid 20s, I'd rather be in LA/NYC than POR too, and I grew up in Beaverton and currently live in podunk Indy. smh

    That's going to change.

Re: streetkids: Bigtime gentrification is happening and the Mayor has perks/incentives to revitalize (gentrify) oldtown. This area is next to boom.

It's happening now (in a big way) east of the river -- Central Eastside and the Lloyd Dist.

I'd rather be in Portland than where I am (Chicago), and I grew up in Beaverton too. People that have actually lived there don't really appreciate it until they're gone. Portland kicks the shit out of the big cities any day.

Definitely feel ya. POR just doesn't appeal to me for a multitude of reasons. I like it better than the midwest for sure, and I'm in CHI like every other week (going there after work tonight for the weekend), and definitely would take POR over CHI. But LA, MIA, and NY i'd rather live in instead of POR.

This makes me happy. I work downtown-ish, and every day is a fucking struggle with the rude/aggressive vagrants/street kids.

Got the CHL for a reason.

Any nice west coast city (LA, Bay Area, Seattle) is comparable to Portland for me. Anywhere else is just not the same. No offense to you, but I've been to Indianapolis a few times and it's a shithole.

None taken, I agree with you. Only redeeming features about it to me are my job and low cost of living.

All the people who are moving here are ruining the city though. We never made the infrastructure to handle this size of population.

just saw this thread....good breakdown, but the max's aren't exactly 25/30/35% of salary cap. It's a good approximation, but there's some funky NBA math that goes into it. They use a different cap calculation to determine the maximum salaries, which is based on 42.14% of projected BRI rather than 44.74%. It's actually a bit under 25%. With the 67M number being an approximation, and the 25% being a high number, I think saying "16M" for the max is appropriate for now.

no, it's at the end of the moratorium. That's July 8, with players able to sign 12:01am on July 9.

I just saw the thread. Give me a bit to check it out. In general, it's looks alright, but I haven't been worried about basketball for a few months and need to check stuff out. ;)

Yep. Regarding the max salaries, I saw this tweet recently:

If the CAP is set at $67.1M, that would make the max salaries:
    - 0-6 yr NBA vet: $15,785,148
    - 7-9 yr NBA vet: $18,942,177
    - 10+ yr NBA vet: $22,099,207

    I'll update the original post.

(Note: I miss storyteller's salaries. SpoTrac, Hoopshype, BasketballInsiders and ESPN all have different salaries posted for many of the players)

For consistency, I'm keeping Kaman and Crabbe and Frazier as "under contract" (Which they are, until they're cut). Partially because the league will do this as well, and it takes place of cap holds.

Combined salaries right now are $26,698,912 for the 9 under contract (Henderson, Kaman, Lillard, Leonard, McCollum, Vonleh, Plumlee, Crabbe, Frazier)

Now the cap holds. Most of your numbers look right, but there are a couple of clarifications and questions:
    1) Does RoLo's salary increase b/c of his trade bonus increase his free agent number, or is it based only on "base salary"? Normally not a huge deal, but in this case it takes him from below-league-average salary to above, and drops his free agent amount from 190% to 150%. In the former, his hold is 150% of $6,142,000 ($9.2M) to $10.1M (190% of 5.34M). I can't find it spelled out in Coon's FAQ, but I'm still looking.
    2) I think that even though Gee's cap hit last year was only about 913k, you still have to use his whole salary (vet min of 1,063,384 for 5 years of service). Since he's a non-Bird FA, 120% of that would be $1,276,061.
    3) As stated above, Crabbe has a non-guaranteed contract. Which means he's under contract until released, and it's not a "free agent amount", but a salary hold. Same number, though.

If you wanted to "max out space", and renounce all of your FA's, add another $1,575,279 for the 3 roster spot holds of 525,093 each. Then add three more if you release Kaman and Crabbe and Frazier, remembering that Kaman's $1M stays on the books no matter what. $24,041,125 is the lowest they could go right now. With 67.1M projected cap, that's $43.1M in space (or $24.7M plus LMA's hold, if you prefer)
