Mitchell at #15, Patton at #20 and Giles at #26. Problem with Mitchell is that even if he turns out very good, he can still only play minutes that CJ doesn't. He cannot really be a small forward or anything other than a guard. He could maybe play point guard though in which case there would be time.

Why couldn't he play with CJ?

He technically could since CJ is our backup PG but man do I hate it. I love CJ but I wish Stotts would stop letting him run the offense. CJ is as much of a PG as Wade in my eyes.

but Miami won a championship with wade mostly @ PG and a diminished shaq as his robin.

Pretty sure Williams was their primary PG.

Heavy Patton exposure. Hmm. He reminds me of Andrew Bynum.

Not sure about that one. Bynum had some hubris coming out. Patton seems more humble. Also Bynum was a beast, where Patton is lighter and quicker with a better outside shot. I'm starting to push him up my list. He has a great body for the NBA, but his low rebounding numbers concern me a bit. That always seems to translate directly into the NBA (B. Lopez). A guy with his standing reach should have more blocks and rebounds. I also prefer the idea of a 4/5 player here so they can get more minutes and either replace Vonleh or at least be the primary backup.

Small sample size, but looks like a decent high post passer and had a couple of dream-shake moves that show his quickness on the spin in the post. He is raw, but with lots of tools. Shoots better from 3 than FT??? If I was convinced he could guard PFs then I would get really excited about him. I'm not sure he can't with his quick feet, but I am far from the best judge of that.

I really don't I want another small guard right now we got 3 player that can run the point and there all 6'3 1/2 and under in Dame and CJ and Napier.

Just was looking at the way he runs. A bit hunched over, long gaits. Bynum was pretty nimble before he got fat too.

Is Myles Turner a better comp?

I like Patton. I would be stoked if we could get him.

I can see that. Not sure where he fits. He is very long, but more fluid than most at his height and length. Not as skilled as KAT or Jokic, but maybe reminds me of them more in how they move.

    FWIW:

    LMA Patton
    6'10" 6'10" height without shoes
    234 229 weight
    7'4" 7'3" wing span
    9'2" 9'3" reach
    0% 57% 3pt %

Not sure why Patton couldn't be a PF for Portland. He seems to have quick enough feet and is basically the same build as LMA. Probably has a better 3pt shot and is certainly more raw. Maybe his best comp is a raw LMA, but with more versatility in his scoring (not stuck on the foul line jumper).

They have had some nice workouts to compare players. Love Patton v. Giles--they likely won't take both, but both would fill a similar spot. Also like Cam Oliver v. Pase. Looked like Oliver was eating him up and making him sweat. Nice to see how Cam plays against taller competition and how Pase plays against wider competition.

Although would have liked to see Oliver v. Bell. Very similar players with Bell leading in agility, but Oliver in 3pt ability. If we don't get Bell I wouldn't mind using a 2nd on Oliver. Nurkic/Oliver/Vonleh is a pretty bruising front line.
