Played his college at Oklahoma State...signed his first contract in Belgium last season and was signed and waived by the Hornets after 6 days and then signed with the Greensboro G league team....good news is he's 6'7 and 230 lbs...young and plays a position we need even as a practice squad guy...we'll see if he can hoop. I mean honestly all the end of the bench 3rd team guys are nobody's trying to make a leap...that comes with the territory but hey...he's not 6'3 and he looks strong as an ox.
Not trying to be a downer, but no defense played against him in almost every clip. One of only two threes was a lucky bank off the back board. Not sold this guy sees the court unless we have a covid outbreak. I think thats why he was brought up. A “just in case of covid”signing
Exactly. Good size with a little attitude and some physicality. Won't see the court unless it's an emergency, but I'll take him over CJ 2.0 and 'The Relative' any day.
Where’s Meyers in the midst of all these signings of stiffs to fill out rosters? I guess he really did commit the unforgivable sin.
"Defense is something where Cam can do a lot of great things for his team. He is really versatile and capable of defending multiple positions. Perimeter Defense: With his athleticism he has no problems following guards on perimeter, slides his feet well and has quick reactions. His hips are flexible and turns around quickly. Probably won’t be able to defend elite isolation guards at the highest level but definitely able to defend most of the guys on perimeter. Pick & Roll Defense: Sometimes his man was running some pick & rolls and Cam showed that he is able to maneuver around screens smoothly. Can make himself thin and go around screens and not get stuck. Again, with his reactions and athleticism he can change his position quickly and recover when he is beaten. Not afraid of contact and deserves a positive grade in his pick & roll defense. Rebounding: With his athleticism and great court awareness, Cam can help his team a lot in rebounding. Positions himself well and has good timing for rebounds. Sometimes he could be maybe a little more active as a rebounder in offense but I could be nitpicking here. Overall, a very good rebounder and this should translate to most levels."https://markoturk-scouting.medium.com/scouting-report-cameron-mcgriff-909b2662d817
I have never been a Meyers fan but the utterance of the K word while playing a video game should not justify the end of his NBA career. He's a dolt and if anyone else said "I didn't really even know what it meant" I probably wouldn't believe it but Meyers? Yeah it's probably true. It's not enough of a transgression to take away his job, especially with all the other stupid shit pro athletes do. Sadly, we could actually use Meyers.
Whenever anyone does something dumb it’s just part of an equation that determines their fate. K word + all star= he’s in league. K word + bad player = out of league. Why deal with the backlash for a bad player? It’s the same deal with Olshey. If Olshey had a title you think this “questionable behavior” behind the scenes would matter?
You are correct in thinking that the Blazers should try to sign Meyers now. I agree. Meyers is the only Blazer to have scored >80% swish3s in playoff games (both in 2016 and 2019). And he was more accurate than Steph Curry in the 2019 WCF game 4 first half scoring 25 pts on 5 of 6 swish3 scoring and 10 of 12 FG. If Terry had kept Meyers shooting with designed plays in that 2nd half, the Blazers could have won that game! And Meyers was one of the best screen setters for other Blazers and made some excellent passes for assists that we need now. Under Chauncey, we would see a more productive Meyers who could provide the big man that the Blazers need. If Meyers is available, let's try to get him back!
I also put some of the fault with Dame. He shouldn't prioritize family members getting NBA deals ahead of a more talented player for the team. It's not primarily Dame's fault Blevins is on the roster, but assuming he had some impact in the decision (which is hard to imagine otherwise), then yes it would be partially Dame's fault.
