    Relax, Francis.

Cliff is a project that will spend most of his time in Ft. Wayne.

I'm not worried about his height - his 9'1.5" standing reach is center worthy. Drummond, for example, has the same reach.

Neil is just taking a stab in the dark on a minimum deal. Low risk, high reward. I like it.

He has no neck. His head is only 3.5 inches above his shoulders. I guess it only matters where his hands are at when he plays but hopefully he can see above the other players on the court.

Slap in the face? Surprising they haven't signed Malcolm Thomas after his stellar play in sl.

Not surprising to me at all. Neil is rolling the dice on Alexander and Montero. Both have very high reward potential, but need some development. Most scouting services had Alexander right in there in some cases higher than Okafor, Towns and Russell. Injuries kept him from playing much of his freshman season, then his mom accepted a loan via and event that essentially forced him into leaving early. Then he also had a sore knee that hampered him in workouts.

Too old, played great in summer league before but failed in the NBA. There's hundreds of guys like this.

Yeah, it seems like he specifically brought in some high potential pfs like Alexander and Vonleh, as well as already having Leonard. Not a bad strategy, surely at least one of them will end up becoming a decent starting pf?

Montero is interesting to me. Has handles, passing, and shooting. Very tall. He played better than Nic Batum's first summer league and Nic ended up starting a few months later. He has the guaranteed contract while Cliff is only paid $100k. He's only played one year of JUCO ball so yes it's most likely we send him to the DLeague when the season starts. The DLeague is a massive step up from where he's ever played. Even if these guys are 95% likely to fail that small chance is worth a roll of the dice.

I wouldn't group Vonleh with the others. Noah is a great lottery level prospect that Charlotte was stupid to pass on. Those prospects can definitely fail but they have a real chance at NBA starter or even all star potential.

Alexander, Montero are scrub 15th man prospects we hope can become an end of the bench roll player. They cost nearly zero assets and will likely fail but are worth the risk for a team not interested in winning next season.

I agree in the sense that we are filling the roster with players that have a chance of drastically increasing in value. Some of them will realize it and some will fail. A team trying to win would fill the roster with known contributors that don't have the upside but have a higher floor.

Essentially what Neil is doing is bringing in guys who drive and dish... And guys who mop up around the rim. A complimentary combination. Another way of looking at it is he has 1 all star, he is building a fairly strong group of roll players and lacks probably one more strong All Star candidate. With the ages of the guys there should be no hurry to change the course for now. This year's draft will be vital. I'm not calling it a tan, because I see more strategy going on than simply trying to be bad.

Yeah it's a unique rebuild because Damian isn't super young and most the other players are multi year vets.

It's why I keep thinking we have a 2 year window for the complete rebuild. That will have Dame, Aminu and Davis all about 27, just entering into that "prime" window. Perfect place to be to start opening a 5 year window for deep runs into the playoffs.

Not to mention Leonard, CJ, Vonleh and Harkless still pretty young and whatever rookies we add via draft. Personally I think we throw a hug offer sheet at Harrison Barnes next summer.

It'll be like the Millsap, Hibbert, Kanter offer and matched. Barnes is superior to Kanter. More likely we'll have to target and overpay a lesser not yet proven player as undrafted Wesley was to steal him in restricted free agency.

My bet is we trade our lottery pick and a young player on draft day for a disgruntled allstar; then sign Batum. Unless we get a top2 franchise type of stud drafting a player that is a couple months out of high school doesn't mesh with Lillards age.

I bet it'll be Derozan since someone said he can opt out.
