I don't like the whispers of off the court baggage. Just not worth putting up with for a 15th man. We only have to pay him $100k so I hope the Blazers do their due dillegence by training camp and cut him if there's the smallest of concerns.

I hope so but it really remains to be seen. Everything remains to be seen at this point.

That's exactly who I thought of while watching this vid:

It's the quick leap and his crazy length. He's also a power dunker.

What whispers? That his mom's job was the reason that his eligibility was in question? I don't recall hearing any other concerns about him.

Some of us wanted nothing to do with his cripplingly bad free throw shooting on a max contract. Not to mention he wouldn't play here anyway.

What's heck is up with the Blazer's Office? Gut the team and sign a bunch of people I never heard of?
WTF! Is just fielding a team in the NBA suppose to be the goal now?

    A) They didn't "gut" the team. Aside from Batum and Blake, those who departed did so of their own volition, and mostly in opposition to the team's stated desire.

    B) Just because you're not familiar with a player doesn't mean he's not worth picking up. Alexander is a high potential player, as are several of the other new "unknowns". Common practice in a rebuild situation.

I think you develop him at small-ball center.

I could see Alexander as a hell of a defender once he fills out and learns to throw his weight around. Will be interesting once camp starts with all our young talent.

Keep forgetting he's only 19. Imagine if both Alexander and Vonleh develop into anything close to their potential. Lol

Another thing: watch the shot blocking in his college highlights (not so much in the high school). You'll notice he generally keeps the ball in bounds when he blocks shots, often off the backboard, resulting in his team actually getting the ball. That's an underrated skill; too many big men are more interested in the highlight reel "into the stands" swat.

    Bill Russell would approve.

They have like 7 or so lottery picks on the team, and 20 mm in cap space that they can pretend a top tier FA wants.

They have a star in Lillard, and young players who have at least shown offensive effectiveness when no one is focused on them. It's not the worst situation. It could have been like the last few years. Good enough not to be good enough

The last few years were massively better situations than the one we're in now.
