Nothing to loose here - so nothing to complain about. I don't think Leaf really has that much potential upside though. There's probably 15-20 players that I would have given a chance to before Leaf. I am curious why it took Olshey 2/3 of the way through the season to fill the 2nd 2-way roster spot. It's difficult to find - but there are some players out there that can come into the NBA and develop into a rotational player. I'd at least cycle through 3-4 players using the 2-way contracts to see if you can find some value.
I am torn on this. Sure we can use the 2-way players to find a diamond in the rough, but if we do develop someone then the issue is can we afford to sign them? I agree it is worth a shot. But grabbing someone like Leaf at the end of the season that helps with depth after seeing who is and isn't hurt is not a bad game plan either. Those 15-20 players you alluded to, can you play them in the playoffs? Now I know someone will throw that back at me and ask can Leaf play in the playoffs if needed? And I don't know the answer to that but at least he can dribble and pass from the 4 spot. I doubt he will help much but I don't think his skill set will hurt us much either. He is there in case of more injures to the PF position. He has a good BBIQ so I think Terry will trust him with small minutes if needed.
Typically it doesn't matter. 2-way players are not eligible to be part of the playoff roster. I'm not sure if they'll relax that rule this year or not... But regardless - if you are relying on a 2-way player for any meaningful time in the playoffs -> you're screwed! But in case you do find that one diamond, you can always sign them to a real roster spot mid-season.
He 2 way player who said anything about being all star. But you still take a look at him. Just because he didn't pan out in indiana don't mean you take a look.
But some people in here thinks he come be in the rotation and so we going be negative before we see what he got.
I come to this board for serious basketball. All I read is a bunch of guys who talk about going 2 ways.
