The name of the game with this team is maturity. I'm just stunned by how calm and mature they are when they get in a hole. They collect themselves, take advantage of their opportunities and leverage luck to win games.
Look at all the West teams - they're all lousy road teams against the west, except for maybe Lakers. It's just too difficult to beat western teams at home - especially the top 8, like the Blazers.
Very impressive win. Was the Blazer defense that good after the 1st quarter...or are the Spurs that out of sync? It is rare for a proud, confident team to get knocked back on their heels like that!
I sort of cheated and said that they could win up to 55 depending on injuries. If Greg and Blake hadn't been out for stretches they probably blow my top end prediction away too STOMP
The Blake injury probably did hurt our chances at 55 more than Greg, but the way he's starting to contribute even with fouls, I have to say that not losing either would have probably been the little bit that would have us celebrating 55 wins right now instead of 50.
I think Houston is third; they own the tiebreaker. If the playoffs were to begin today, we'd have HCA against the Spurs. Yikes...
Great win, but I'm not going to get too excited. The Spurs are a shell of their former self. No Ginobili and Duncan can hardly move. They need their Big 3 to be a good team. Once their jumpers stopped falling it was a matter of time before we caught them.
Yeah, but there's no better coached, better executing team than the Spurs. There's no way they should give up a 19 point lead. Yet they not only gave it up, they gave up another 12.
I think the reason their jumpers werent falling was because their older legs were just tired. youth won out here.
They'd still be a nightmare matchup in the playoffs. If we could have HCA against Denver, Houston or SA, I'd want to face SA the least--even without Manu.
I didn't participate in the game thread tonight, but I always read through them after the fact. This post made me laugh my fucking ass off. Page 3, things weren't going well for our Blazers. At this particular time in the game, I was thinking the same thing. So fucking funny.
Absolutely. They just don't match up with us. They've got nobody other than Parker that can create his own offense and they're undersized. Duncan's knees will only get worse, not better. They've got no shot to get past the 1st round in my opinion.
It is so funny to hear the ESPN fools blasting us in the first quarter and then praising us after the game.
