it wasn't really a bad loss from start to finish. the first half was pathetic. the second half wasn't bad at all though.
Really? You can't see any reason for Blazer fans to be a little discouraged by the way the team has played the last couple of games? No reason to be concerned about Oden's recent regression? No discouragement at all? If so, you're a very unusual fan, I must say.
What a pathetic comment by you. The guy is obviously a Blazer fan, and is upset by this loss, as he has a right to be. Yet all you can do is accuse him of "trolling."
No I'd say an unusual fan loses perspective as quick as a two game losing streak. But then again that doesn't seem so unusual around these parts. If you want to be miserable despite the team thus far exceeding almost anyone's expectations than have fun being a knee-jerk fan. It must make being a fan that much more enjoyable.
Maybe all of the knee-jerk Blazer fans in the world come to this site, and all of the positive, always-happy type of fans who can only see the sun shining behind the clouds are posting on other sites . . . Yeah, that's the ticket!
Where did I say ALL? Mainly just a couple who flood this forum with bipolar nonsensical garbage on a regular basis. Seems there is no gray area with a lot them. Either we suck or were the best. Its all relative.
As far as I'm concerned, when the Sonics became the Thunder, any "rivalry" was shot dead. OKC is nothing more than an expansion team in my eyes and there isn't any history between the two teams anymore. As far as the Oden vs. Durant debate, who gives a fuck what other people think or the media thinks. I'm happy with the guy we got and in the long run I feel it's going to work out. It does suck that Durant seemed to step his game up and Oden didn't bring it, but it's only one game. There's no reason to be feeling insecure over this game for the Oden vs. Durant drama. The only thing I'm concerned about is we came out flat against a bad team. It just goes to show that this team isn't ready to turn the corner and stomp the souls of lottery teams within the first 10 minutes to set the tone of the game. It was sad to see OKC dictating our lineup changes.
I agree that it's not wise to get too high or too low about these things. However . . . Oden's play lately is a huge disappointment, and I can't blame anyone for pointing this out. We've seen what Oden is capable of, and then to have him regress like this is just sad. The team is also better than this. We know it. We've seen them beat very good teams this year. To watch them regress as a team against a squad like The Thunder is also disheartening. Fans are fans. We live and die with our team. We're also smart enough to know when the team is playing well, and playing hard, and we have a right to point it out when they are doing neither.
Frankly, the only reason at all that I am the least bit disappointed in this loss is the play of Greg Oden. He's been terrible for 4 straight games. Tonight wasn't the night to not even try, Greg.
Uh, did I not say this loss was frustrating? But there is a big difference between being concerned and starting a "Blazers Suck" thread on a Blazers message board. In other words, if this is a place where we freak out and become heavily depressed after every loss, I am going to visit less often.
I didn't even bother to read through the first 3 posts in this thread. All I wanna know is: how the FUCK did Mixum get AgentDP's password for this forum and start making threads under his logon? AgentDP, you gotta keep your PW under better lock and key bro.
Petro always has that inner MIXUM lurking inside of him. I'm sure he'd agree, but his comes out in short, infrequent bursts as opposed to a long and drawn-out performance.
And how the fuck did Maris get Uther's password? There seems to be a security breach here on s2 . . . admins, get to the bottom of this, please!
Ed O. has them all combing through my past posts for a bannable offense. The admin and mods are unavailable. I kid, I kid!
PapaG, I think you're way off on how Oden was tonight. (in a discussion, rather than insulting, way) If you do the boxscore thing, it doesn't jump out as a great performance. But you're missing a huge part of the picture. Forget "rebounds", for a second. I went back and counted "taps", since almost every time a shot went in the air OKC was sending 3 guys to the boards, two of which were blocking out Oden. This allowed Blazer guards to get a bunch of rebounds, but didn't help his box score. In addition, in the first half alone I counted 5 "taps", where he tapped the ball on a missed shot but didn't come up with it (out of bounds, OKC got the tip, another Blazer got it, etc.). He missed two shots today. One of them he was hacked from in front and behind, but no foul was called. I think he touched the ball 5 times in the first half...one 3-second call, 2 assists, 1 pass without assist (while being behind the 3pt line) and one foul against (no FTs). I don't know the usage rate on that, but it's not good. And the "foul trouble" thing is bogus. He had 1 foul when he went out at the 6 minute point (trying to stay with a driving Durant going baseline on a busted switch). His last 2 fouls (30 sec. or so apart) were relatively cheap, and yet that caused Nate to sit him for the rest of the night. Maybe he was protecting Greg, since Haywood Workman et al were letting Greg get ambushed inside and not blowing the whistles. The argument about "he's not open" is bogus as well. I counted twice today that Outlaw passed up passing to him when he was the only person in the key...wide open. Just didn't receive the ball. Sergio had a couple of times where he looked like he wanted to get it it, but didn't. Oden had more assists to guards today than guards had to him, which shouldn't happen unless he's getting triple-teamed. And why did we stop running the P&R. I'm not saying Oden should be playing in the All-Star Game, but you're making it sound like he's Mark Madsen out there. He's not. He's being frozen out (innocently negligent or not) on offense and left out on an island on D b/c of switches and things. And yet, I can't remember the last time he fouled out (did he once in Jan?) Nick Collison, Jeff Green, Joe Smith. Combined for 96 min at the PF/C spots. Joel and Oden? Combined for 30. LMA was having a good shooting night, and yet Roy missed more shots tonight than anyone else on the team took. I would say that once Oden gets consistent minutes and the ball passed to him on offense every once in a while, then you look more correct in your Oden assessments. I submit that if Kevin Durant had 3 shots tonight, he wouldn't have scored much more than Oden did.
