I see this question thrown around a lot in threads so I think we should have a sticky with the Blazers current cap situation going into the summer.

Luckily, Yahoo has a good breakdown so I don't have to type too much. But here is the general breakdown:

    SUMMER CAP BREAKDOWN

    Guaranteed 2016-17 Insider info
    1. Damian Lillard $21,597,000 Rose rule ralary: $23.7 million

    4. C.J. McCollum $3,219,579 Eligible for rookie
    5. Noah Vonleh $2,751,360 None
    6. Mason Plumlee $2,328,530 Eligible for rookie
    7. Pat Connaughton $874,636 None

    Non/Partial 2016-17 Guarantee date
    8. Luis Montero $874,636 None
    9. Cliff Alexander $874,636 June 30

FA cap holds 2016-17 Free-agent status
    10. Gerald Henderson $9,000,000 Full Bird rights
    11. Meyers Leonard $7,689,700 Restricted/full Bird rights

    14. Brian Roberts $3,711,422 Early Bird rights
    15. Allen Crabbe $2,725,003 Restricted/full Bird rights
    DEAD MONEY
    Anderson Vareajo, $1,984,005

    CAP PICTURE

    Guaranteed $45,117,837
    Non/partial $1,749,272
    FA cap holds $36,881,273
    First-round holds $0
    Minimum holds $0
    Dead money $1,984,005
    Total $85,732,387
    Salary cap $92,000,000
    Cap space $6,267,613

    PROJECTED CAP SPACE

The Blazers’ cap situation is fluid based on the $36.8 million in free-agent cap holds.

Portland does have the ability to create close to a max salary slot ($21 million) and still have the option of bringing back its restricted free agents. To do so, the cap holds of Gerald Henderson, Chris Kaman and Brian Roberts would need to be released.

MODS: I think it would be helpful to sticky this so we have less confusion about exact dollar amounts for the players on our team.

    I thought Crabbe's cap hold was $1.2M?

Great thread and post but it's Kaman, Alexander, Montero, and in the last month Meyers, who sat on the bench and cheered like rally girls. They're the ones who got paid a rallary.

By keeping go of Kaman/Roberts/Henderson we'd have $25.5M in cap space, way more than needed for the $21M max slot, and right at the $25 max. If we signed a center for a little more than we had we'd either renounce Meyers or trade Plumlee for a pick.

Since the summer is officially over I'm going to unsticky this thread.
