if I was emotional, I'd be a lot more demonstrative than saying 'for fuck sakes'

sure...you can find an exception here and there. But there are plenty of rebuilds that went the other direction, big time.

    * Sacramento spent 16 straight years in the lottery and they started out with Kevin Martin, Ron Artest, Mike Bibby, Brad Miller and John Salmons. And in that 16 year drought they added Tyreke Evans, DeMarcus Cousins, Carl Landry, Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Thornton, Rudy Gay, Darren Collison, Rajon Rondo, Buddy Heild, and Bogdan Bogdanovich. Then they added De'Aaron Fox and they still couldn't make it into the playoffs till his 6th season

    * Minnesota spent 13 straight years in the lottery, and 16 of 17

    * Golden State spent 17 of 18 years in the lottery

    * Phoenix spent 10 straight years in the lottery, and 4 of those were with Devin Booker. They didn't make the playoffs until CP3 arrived

and I am sure all of those teams were trying hard to turn things around

I have high hopes for Sharpe and Scoot. But I'm also practical enough to know there is a hell of a lot of NBA real estate between where they are not and being superstars

First, thats not the criteria. Dame just said he wants a puncher's chance. If the team was at least a 4/5th seed - thats good enough.

Second, thats not Portland's problem. I would not send him to a place he doesn't want to go to - but Im also not going out of my way to send him to the perfect situation

Swaps don't do you much good when you're in the lottery

swaps are like betting on the hard-8. You know the odds are against you but it's 'what the hell, why not time'

Minny and Sac are historically shit organizations. They have a long tradition of being garbage.

I’m hoping that Jody isn’t driving us into the ground. Or the next owner.

it was those droughts that gave them the reputation of being shit

Almost their entire history is a drought. Their winning teams were the fluke.

With that said, it’s ownership that drives these long running droughts, as you put it. I’m scared that Jody will keep us in the dumps for a while. I want her gone so that we can hopefully get a good owner who will spend money to build around Scoot and Shae.

yeah...I'm very unimpressed with Jody and the Vulcans. She was at the Blazer draft war room though

Yeah I watched the video of her calling Scoot with Joe and Chauncey. I don’t get it.

It’s almost like she knows she’s always been an irrelevant person (in terms of known to the public) and is using this inheritance to bask in any kind of publicity she can get. It’s very odd.

Does Jody even have the power financially to do what’s best for the team or are all financial decisions made by the Vulcans?

I think it's Paul Allen's trust in charge, but I also think she's the main boss of the trust. Maybe there's a board or something

Yeah, I just said up to. I think if we're getting the rights to both of their first rounders from this draft and Claxton then we would get 3 or 4 future firsts. I don't think they would have any more protections than they currently have. Dame is a superstar, they need that.

No matter what timeline we are using I believe Ant and Nurk must go. I don’t see Ant handling a demotion well and Nurk doesn’t fit the type of players or tempo we want anymore.

While we're discussing destinations with picks...

I know it's been said that we wouldn't trade dame to a WC team, but do don't you kind of have to ask Houston? Between Amen, Jabari Smith, Jalen Green (to reroute), Sengun, Eason, a number of younger/cheaper role players and the BKN unprotected picks they got for Harden PLUS their cap space and desire to build a winning roster (could trading for Dame convince Harden to come back?) that pairing, to me, checks a LOT of boxes...

Not saying we'd get all of their guys, but if we're trading Dame I'm looking firstly at 1st, 2nd, maybe 3rd year players who are looking like studs at the 3, 4, or 5 and seeing how many I can get. Then I'm looking at draft picks and Houston has a boatload.

I can see not wanting to trade him IN DIVISION, so that eliminates 2 of the biggest 4 draft caches in the league, but competitive considerations like not trading him in-conference should be secondary to improving our trajectory. And not that I'm necessarily a fan of that kind of thing, but the symmetry of the Clyde thing would be at least notable.
