Wed damn well better be. How do we lose out to Dallas...Neil is flying there now...gonna lock him in his hotel room till he signs with us
Its been reported by quiet a few people. Even Woj talked about it but made it sounded like its merely lip service because his choice will be between Mavs/Miami.
Last year around this time i remember a similar situation with Greg Monroe and then went to bed after being fairly certain NO WAY he would choose the Bucks over the Blazers well we all know what happened there. I have to imagine that Olshey learned from that event last year but he MIGHT be holding an ACE up his sleeves in Parsons to help convince Whiteside to sign with the Blazers. It's for this reason i hope Parson's meeting with Memphis is before Portland's with Whiteside so Olshey can really have that ace up his sleeve and not having to bluff which would prolly lead to Whiteside not signing with Portland. ALSO that tweet you were talking about NEVER even mentions the Blazers Adrian Wojnarowski @WojVerticalNBA 7m7 minutes ago Miami swung back momentum with Hassan Whiteside in meeting tonight, league sources tell @TheVertical. Heat regained footing with Dallas.
Thats how I inturput it. Adrian Wojnarowski– Verified account @WojVerticalNBA Miami swung back momentum with Hassan Whiteside in meeting tonight, league sources tell @TheVertical. Heat regained footing with Dallas. 12:26 AM - 1 Jul 2016
I mean I'm sure you are right. But Woj once again doesn't even mention Portland anywhere. No "with Portland still to meet with him" or anything type tweets. Have to wonder if we got blown off so that is why we shifted our focus to Parsons.
Pretty much at this point I think either could happen since there just isn't much info. I'm just trying to think positive since there was a tweet saying we are getting a meeting and none saying we aren't yet.
You guys keep saying Whiteside which would be my pick too but maybe, just maybe this is a master plan to grab a wing and rim protector. That article about Parsons and Dwight being close friends and going into free agency together. Maybe that's the plan. Who knows. Or maybe we just grab Parsons, renounce somebody like meyers or something, grab a lower tier rim defender
Love the fact that Olshey is at least going after the small prey first. He's learned his lesson well. Get all your bases covered and THEN swing for the seats!
Another thing; supposedly Dwight has meetings in Atlanta today and then Las Vegas on Saturday. Could the Vegas meetings involve teams participating in summer league there? Portland and Boston?
I got the feeling he was just using free agency as leverage with the hometown team. Can't say I blame him.
