That is supposedly the plan. If Neil can get Parson to agree in principle and then be one of the 2 teams Howard meets with tomorrow, I can't believe Dame and Chandler aren't part of that meeting.

Sometimes a double failure is a success. This would be one of those times.
Or else, hey, let's go whole hog and get Kevin McHale to be the coach.
Remember how ever year somebody suggests that playoff teams should get to subsume the players of the teams they knock out? Looks like Olshey is trying to make that a reality.

Sounds like Parsons and Memphis are meeting as i type this so i think by Noon or so we should have a good idea or even know unless something crazy happens. We are due for a break in free agency but if this does not work out in Olshey i trust and still good and solid options out there remain.

It makes no sense for the Blazers to not have offered MAX dollars to Parsons. A shade under is a serious offer, but not "all in."

Dame's camp ends today and then there's a few days off and then I think there's another camp. So he should be free tomorrow.

I knew that report from Stein that he was meeting with them on Monday was incorrect. Made no sense.

    It's getting close, guys.

Well, if they're trying to sell him on pairing up with Dwight, they might have offered slightly less than max.

I still harbor an unhealthy dislike for the Grizzlies for the whole Darius Miles bullshit.

That doesn't do any good for the cap space. Pat is guaranteed. If he's released, his full salary stays on the books + $0.5M roster charge.

Offer him the max, and say "you can play with Howard if you help us sign him, and we renegotiate down a touch before July 6th. If Howard doesn't come though, we'll give you the max."

For what he costs, and his potential upside, I would be hard pressed to let Montero go.

I'd offer the max anyway. Secure him, then work on how to get Howard signed.

Something like "Here's a MAX deal. Take it. If you're willing to help us get Howard and take less, we'll accommodate that."

Since all contracts are essentially signed at the same time, you can renegotiate as part of getting both to commit. There's so many contingencies that I'm sure Parsons's offer has three different number attached, one being the max.

Oh sure, like "he played us well, let's get him in the off season." after beating a team. That happens all the time.

Vet min starting at $874,636. Can be up to 2 years. That would enable us to keep Bird Rights, eventually, as long as it was "declining options" rather than having to go through waivers.

I bet that's precisely what Olshey said to Parsons.

Quick (I think it was him) reported $94/4 years was offered. That's not MAX.

If there's 3 contingencies and one is MAX, then he was offered $96/4
