LOL. I'd literally trust Kingspeed more with this franchise than Olshey

While I admit that, I would say that in the time that Collins has been in there, his growth was better than Vonlehs.

If Vonleh was better, he would've played.

Yep. Neil should recognize it though, too, I would think?

I remember a lot of people getting hell bent out of shape when Thomas Robinson was traded, because he was a 'stud"'.

    Where is he now?

It wouldnt surprise me if Vonleh has a very pedestrian career. It's not like PF was a strong position for the Blazers this year...

I have been thinking about this a lot lately and most of our problems as an organization began with Paul Allen buying the team. We have heard so many things about the Vulcans and the tampering and this feels like a financial move that didn’t come from a basketball standpoint.

    It is 100% financial.
The Blazers are a business first and foremost. They should always make the decision that make the most financial sense.
More fans need to understand that.

Vonleh sucks. It sucks we couldn't extract any value out of him, but let's be real, Noah was useless.

for starters, no, it didn't "begin" with him buying the team. It just became more obvious with a media that pointed it out a lot more than it did before.

Also, there are restrictions to being in the lux tax, where it hamstrings your ability even more so than most fans realize. This means they can sign a free agent (MLE I believe) easier than they could before that.

Also, honestly, we have fans who bitch about Neil signing Turner, Meyers and Moe (I never liked those signings, only liking maybe Moe), but then bitch when no other team wants to take those contracts. Damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess.

Doesn't this kind of trade make it easier, financially, for them to re-sign Ed and Shabazz? Since they won't be paying the repeater tax?

Somehow, and I know I'm going out on a limb here, I think the team understands the ins and outs of the CBA and what implications come from being a repeat lux tax spender.

    AMAZING!
Excellent teamwork! Terry made sure to ruin Vonleh's confidence and value and Neil was right there to trade his expiring contract for nothing.

Where would we be without those guys??

The fuck you don't. the Warriors won because they thought like a business. They saw ways around the cap, had the benefit of Curry being on a tiny contract, and utilized what they could do.

One thing is for sure, you don't win titles thinking like a fan.

If we use the regular MLE, Portland will be hard-capped and will be unable to resign most of their FA. If they use the tax-MLE, they will still have flexibility.

It doesn't impact the ability for Portland to re-sign Ed or Shabazz. It just wouln't cost as much in taxes 3 years from now.

Portland will not be re-signing Shabazz anyhow. They'll get Ed to sign for right around the MLE ($8M/yr).

They won a chip because were lucky with some picks and even then they wanted to trade Klay for Kevin Love.

Bye, Noah. I had given up on you last year, but you stuck with it, and got really good this year. Great work! The Bulls are short on centers, here's hoping you get some really good minutes :hoops:

I'll applaud when you're introduced when you visit Moda. Say hi to Rolo!
