Honestly, as long as we're starting Dame and CJ together our perimeter D is going to be terrible. We are going to be having to outscore every team we play instead of beating them soundly on both ends of the floor. RoCo makes a big difference but CJ is still such a defensive liability and will continue to make our offense stall with his MeJ shit. The guy needs to be on a team that needs a dynamic scoring little guard who is surrounded by elite defenders.

At this point I think he just wants the more money.

Yeah, I like him at PF more than you do but I agree that getting him or Grant for the MLE is a pipe dream. I did say I would trade CJ to the Pistons in a sign and trade bringing back Wood at around 17 million a season and two first rounders but I doubt Neil is going to do that. I definitely would though, I think Wood would too and lastly I think the Pistons would be down to pair CJ and Griffin together. The other benefit to that is that we end up with between 12 and 14 million in cap space after that trade.

Even with this trade Dame and CJ can't be taking between them 51 attempts a game there has to be more balanced in the offense. On defense side CJ is non existent and when he does play decent defense they just shoot over him due to his lack height. I think our front line can be pretty good depends on who plays the 4 position. But will see how olshey fill the rest roster out before I make my judgement how good I think they will be.

You definitely like him a lot! I'm not a big CJ fan myself, but I wouldn't do the above mentioned trade. We need a good guard coming back if we do trade him in my opinion. Trent not a ball handler so he cannot really fill CJ's shoes.

Covington seems to be basically Aminu with All-NBA defense and better shooting. Which makes me think Stotts will use him at PF, relegating Collins to the bench as our backup C/PF. (And I wouldn't be surprised if Collins gets used exclusively at backup C. It'll keep him out of foul trouble, and ensure our injury-prone starting center never plays more than 30mpg.)

I love the guy's defense, but if there's one stat I'd get the most excited about it's his career average of 6.6 three point attempts per game. Last year he averaged 7, which is literally twice what Aminu did in his final season with us. This dude lets it fly. Shots will NOT be turned down, which was always a problem with Harkless and Aminu. Those guys took the three when left absolutely wide open. Roco shoots because that's what he's paid to do on offense. If there's space to release, there's space to shoot.

I don't know how well Rodney Hood will play when he comes back, but the dude was hitting threes at .493 before the injury. Even if he regresses, it's hard to believe he dips below 35%. Or we just go with Trent at SF, who shot 40% last year. Which means we'll have good-to-fantastic three point shooting at 4 starting positions, which is the modern NBA. Nurk and Dame will have acres of space to work in the pick and roll.

The West is going to be a bloodbath this year once again. The Rockets are done, but the Suns look to be basically replacing them. I don't know that the WCF are likely, but I'm feeling like they're at least possible now.

That team would get absolutely destroyed.

You can’t have only one player that can create his own shot.

I am the ***biggest*** Trent fan (as I argued with BonesJones on draft night I believe it was those many years ago that he was a steal in the second round), but his dribbling ability is 1/100th of CJ.

Dame would never see single coverage in a game in his life again.

Dame doesn't see single coverage now and CJ's ability to handle the ball and create his own shot stalls our offense all of the time. If you have an offense that moves players and the ball, you don't have to have guys getting their own shot. It's nice that we have one of the best in the league in Dame but we don't need two. Besides, what makes you think we can't get someone with the 12-14 million that the trade frees up or with the MLE that can get their own buckets if that is imperative.

Rockets fans are really bummed about this trade. Just checked Clutchfans and they all say RoCo was their second best player last season. And this was with him not even shooting all that well. Apparently, he's awesome on defense!

Maybe they haven't realised Harden is leaving. 2 firsts are a very good return for RoCo and probably they can flip Ariza at trade deadline for some asset.

This makes me think Whiteside is on the trading block as well.
I like the trade. Blazers need this now. They don't have the luxury to wait for 2-3 more years to see if picks work out. Would love to see Milsap as well.
    Lillard
    McCollum
    Nurkic
    Collins
    Covington

Then add Hood, Trent, Little, Simmons,

Not sure what happens with Melo or Whiteside but even if they keep them the Blazers are a pretty deep team.

    Mario-

sign and trade with Collins/Hood or just Collins going to Detroit? I believe Detroit has the extra capspace

Except you just block anyone who doesn’t agree with what you guys say so why?
Pretty boring listening to a group of people who all say the same thing.
We already know what you will say. Good trade but kind of expensive. Hope he shoots a bit better. Then you will trash Stotts and say he probably won’t use him correctly.
Blazers need a good defensive athletic wing and they did indeed get that.

No, I don't block people who disagree with me. @JDC and I disagree all the time but I respect his opinion and enjoy having conversations about the game with him on stream.

I do, however, choose to not associate me with negative people that decide to trash me out of the blue and make up false narratives to try to do so. Yes, I'm talking about you, and the way you're acting right now is a perfect example. I have no idea why you're taking shots at me and Eric right now. It's pretty lame.
