What makes you think they will stop??? It will just be different trades and signings.

If Portland actually picks someone at 7 there will be an endless # of trades for them in S&T’s.

A guy who needs the ball in his hands to be effective and doesn't help the defense? That's a bad dream for me.

He would definitely help the defense and he will get plenty of touches off of the pick and roll.

That is, if Dame can get him to buy in. And I'm not worried about that any more. We need talent, and Randle is about the best talent available for us to add. Dame's job is to get him to buy in, IMO.

Right. That's why we agree to the deal and draft who they want.

How exactly does Randle help a defense? Dude is atrocious on that end. And a shabby attitude too. No thanks.

Here we go for my preference:

    Trade #1
    fanspo-nba-trade-machine-snap_6-18-2022_12-19-19AM.png
Spurs get to move up for their pick (Daniels?) while also dumping Langford to maximize cap space.
Pistons get 2 firsts for Grant & also open up a max FA spot.

    Trade #2:
(in this scenario Bledsoe is really Grant & the #7 is really #9)
    fanspo-nba-trade-machine-snap_6-18-2022_12-35-25AM.png
Sixers get a 3pt threat for their lineup for two assets (Thybulle & Reed).
Atlanta moves up from 16 to 9 to get their pick (Duren or possibly Sharpe?). They also get Grant & dump ~$11M in salary.
    Portland gets Collins & #16

We could throw Didi & Watford into either one of these two trades to help open up roster spots.

    Draft Picks:
    #16 - Dieng (or Eason).
    #36 - Procida (2-way contract)
    #38 - Minott or Barlow (2-way contract)

    Roster heading into FA:
    PG: Dame, Simons (FA)
    SG: Hart, Little, Johnson
    SF: Thybulle, Ingles (FA), Dieng
    PF: Collins, Winslow, GBIII
    C: Nurk (FA), Reed

Would need to find a cheap C/PF (Portis or Jalen Smith as full MLE?) and a good veteran 3rd string PG (Cory Joseph?) in FA.

    2-way: Procida & Minott

Disagree. In a bad season he's got the 3rd best defensive rating and highest defensive win share on his team.

And he's our best chance to put an All Star next to Dame. And he would know he's not the #1 option here.

It's his attitude that influences his defense. When he is engaged, he can be quite a good defender. 4x in his career, he has had a defensive rating at 109 or lower. That said, there are plenty of times when he is not engaged, and that would make me nervous.

I don’t think Randle fits what billups is looking for out of players mentality wise. Actually, I’d say he’s probably the exact opposite of what he’s looking for. Forget this whole idea of pairing Dame with another all star. That’s not part of Chauncey’s idea of how to build a winner imo.

OG is a Billups type, as is Dort. Haven’t watched enough of Collins to make a judgement on him.

I agree with all of this, but would Dame be considered a Chauncey type of player?

You can get OG and Randle.

When was the last time a team with only 1 all star won a title? Doesn't happen. We need talent.

absolutely, because I think Chauncey loves having a top-10ish player who happens to be the best team leader in the league.

was listening to some podcast earlier (forgot which one, they all sorta blend together right now).

they were talking about Jabari going #1 and how their roster already has Wagner/Isaac. Isaac is the obvious guy they'd like to move, but if Wagner was available in an effort to open up room for Jabari....for #7, would you do it?

    I'd give it serious consideration.

Wish that would quantify better. Best team leader....I wish that would result in more wins than an average of 2 Playoff wins per season for his career. It's not to diminish who he is, or how good he is, but I hear that thrown around a lot and wish it manifest itself in more actual team production results. He's very talented, but how can be be a leader on defense? He walks the ball up the court the vast majority of possessions, so isn't leading, but is trailing most or all of the team as they come up the floor.

Just wondering if a player of his caliber AND style can be the leader of a championship caliber team?

If he can lead the dumpster fire masquerading as an NBA team to the playoffs, including a trip to the conference finals once, why not?

Nurkic is a free agent; so he can't be traded away at the draft.

Right. That's why we make the agreement at the draft and do the sign and trade later.

It's not easy but it is possible.

I’m all in on the OG.

Love what he brings and I think he could be a star. Excellent defense as well. Chaunce would be smitten.

But it basically never happens. It would be a clear sign of tampering.
