I'm with you 100% on this take. Seems like a very reasonable expectation to me.

Feels like this outcome is one of the few things this board generally all agrees on.

Kanter and Zeller scored at the same rate last year.

Melo wasn't efficient and didn't take quality shots outside of spot-up threes. Turning his looks into higher quality looks for the rest of the team will help us put more points on the board, not less.

it close, but Kanter was a little better

the difference was Kanter created his own offense, mostly from the offensive glass. Zeller didn't. Kanter had a 46% assisted FG rate; Zeller was at 76%

and in all the talk about Zeller's better defense, what isn't mentioned is Kanter's significant advantage in defensive rebounding; 32% vs 23%. Securing a missed shot is that last step of a successful defensive possession

I just watched the highlights they have long was to be a good defense team. But I am really worried about after 1 preseason game. But you can look against the pick and roll but if you don't have a good rotation it's going give a lot open shots as I seen on the tape. Offense still need more movement with the ball and players. Still running the offense out around the 3 point line.

But doesn’t Zeller have a history of missing games?

Yeah and my DVR always, every single time, records whatever broadcast is blacked out instead of the Blazers broadcast.

Well I’m sure the black screen is better than whatever #FuckingBlazerBroadcasting is showing right?

Haha... you think making the playoffs with a shot at the 2nd round (right matchup / injury luck) is an unreasonable expectation?

Now if the OP meant he expects us to make the 2nd round, that would be a stretch to me as well. What I took by "I could see us making the 2nd round" was he had to imagine a fortunate scenario, not that it was more likely than that.

I used to think that but now I am not so sure. If we had a forward who could score then I would say move Norm to SG and use CJ as the 6th man. But right now we do not.

Technically we can have any starter play with the bench to make it better. Who compliments each other the best? I am torn at this point.

I think Nance compliments everyone even if it does not end up in the box score. I would like to start him but I suppose he will help Zeller more than Nurk.
I just hope to hell RoCo can be more consistent with his 3 ball this year.

So we have a Zeller, Nas, Nance frontcourt off the bench. Not much scoring there. If Nas isn't ready then we plug in Snell who we know can at least shoot the 3 ball.
Simons we also know can shoot the 3.

So I guess my main question is who plays alongside Ant to start the 2nd? is it CJ again, or is it Norm, or is it...... Dennis Smith?
I want to see more of Smith and Ant together in the preseason.

We saw a lot of CJ with the 2nd unit against GS and he was much more effecfive than with the starters

That's the downside. Hopefully he can stay healthy. Luckily Nance can handle the 5.

Here’s my thinking offensively we are still top 10. Defensively with new coach we’ll be at least top 20. We have one of the best closers in the game in Dame. Bench is better. Will we make it to 2nd round no idea but in my opinion we’re capable with this roster

Gotta’ love that about sports. It’s like art, two people can look at the exact same thing and come up with two totally different opinions.

You have way more insight into the team than I do fortunately my supreme knowledge of the sport means I’m probably right and your wrong ;)

If Dames healthy we always have a shot. Just like making it to WCF couple years back. LeBron is on the downside especially with that group, Denver’s tough and so is Phoenix but not unbeatable.

I also think the CJ for Simmons trade goes down before end of next week.

Would love to see Big Ben in a Blazers uniform. I push my prediction to 50 wins from 41 with him on our roster.
