Watched him working out. REALLY long! REALLY raw! But the coaches said he works hard and wants it. Great attitude.
Obviously, he will be a superstar like all our project big men. He has to be with that kind of name, chock full of nicknames......The Badger.......Badjiass......et al.
Incredibly raw, but with that size and length, could he really be worse than nights when Nurk is sleeping? Or for brief segments when they have gone with someone like Nas at center? They play so much zone, have him just hang out near the rim and play volleyball with opponent shots. He'll likely gets some fouls called on him, but what rookie doesn't?
Looks like he had a knee procedure and out for at least 8 weeks. http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=29989
He's had a sore knee for months, we signed him mid Nov and he has not played at all, it took them this friggin long to figure this out? WTF, he could have had the procedure done months ago and be playing now, shakes head
Awesome--he'll be back in time to represent us at the lottery. He and VW have about the same odds of ever playing for the Blazers.
To me, this is a sign that they really think Badji can turn into something good. There's no reason for the Blazers to keep him on the roster right now unless they think down the road he's going to help this team be better.
Man if we had the training staff GPII tried to say we had, just give them tordoal and force them out there. Guess not.
That's not true. They can turn into the best color commentator in the history of the western civilization.
Unless they're planning on rostering him next season I believe they remain limited to the 2-year limit on a 2-way player deal. I'm guessing we'll see him at summer league alongside Wemby, which should be a fun pairing.
Chauncey said initially that his biggest problem was language so far...not much English comprehension. Senegal, he probably speaks French as a second language to his tribal tongue. Language cna really slow down the coaching process for a young raw talent..he looks like he's a strong guy...hopefully we can get him going here.
