we would never give up LMA for bosh unless bosh was locked up beyond this season, and he's not signing an extension now because the max he can get goes way up this summer (as a 7 year vet).

bosh for LMA can ONLY happen via sign/trade this summer, which would only happen if bosh makes it known that he wants to come here specifically. bosh is not a realistic possibility.

i doubt that will be much of a factor compared to market size, and you can throw chicago in there for good measure. he can come here and try to win in a small market with roy, or he can go to a much bigger market with all the perks and try to win in chicago with rose, in miami with wade, or even potentially in NY with lebron. don't see us competing.

This was why I suggested getting Amare as well. Market size aside, Roy-Bosh-Amare would be as good a big 3 as any in the NBA. What "perks" would they get from a big market that would offset the media hype of being part of a huge blockbuster trade that creates potentially the best frontcourt tandem since Duncan-Robinson?

you missed the part where we're not trading valuable pieces for players who will be FAs. might as well suggest trading roy for lebron.

You missed the part where that was the whole point of the thread in the first place--would you be willing to take the gamble of trading potential cornerstones for established all-star players with impending free-agency. If you're not, than discussing anything else in this thread is kind of pointless.

And Roy for Lebron is a completely different discussion because the Cavs are currently a title contender and think they have a shot at keeping him. That is not the case with Bosh and Amare.

i didn't miss anything, i'm saying speculating about impossible hypotheticals is pointless.

Not speculating--inquiring about people's opinions. I like to know what other people think. I want to know if other people would be willing to make a gamble like that, or if they would play it conservative, as well as the reasons why they think that way. Whether or not it's likely is irrelevant to the question I asked.

BTW--if a thread is pointless, why would you choose to post in it? That sounds even more pointless to me.
