Wow I think Bogut is way out of line making these comments. Even if he thinks this is true he needs to keep it to himself and remember that he just a rookie.

I'm just curious. Do you really think you're contributing to the discussion with posts like that? First, you openly admit you don't even know who Bogut is, now you're saying that 'that Bogans kid' is going to get **** on by Kobe? How would you even be able to make any sort of comparison when you don't even know who Andrew Bogut is?

Seriously, even if Kobe did **** on him, what does that have to do with this topic? Go back and read what the thread is about before you embarrass yourself further.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kobe 8 Ball:</div><div class="quote_post">Let's not get this thread off topic into a Kobe-bashing/Laker bashing thread....</div>

Nor a one-liner party. To me this seems more like a Bogut bashing thread than a Lakers bashing thread. I'm surprised by the ignorance of the people in this thread. How is it possible to not know Andrew Bogut and follow basketball at the same time? Anyway, there is already a thread on this in the NBA Draft Forum that I replied to, so I'm just going to quote myself on this one -

"First of all, I detect a lot of subtle racism lying below the surface in this thread. Is he becoming the new Yao? Posterize him because he's different and good?

Who is he? He is the best player in all of college basketball, that's who. Like it or not, he has a right to speak his mind. Nobody yells "Posterize him!" everytime you make a negative post about a player, do they?

Anyway, does everyone not realize there is 100% truth to that? Bogut is saying that you can't be cocky when you're playing with a Hall of Fame player, and you have to be humble. Is that a bad thing?

I don't even think he meant for it to be disrespectful. Notice he said "There's no one I really hate" and says "Tim has got a cockiness" about Duncan, yet he goes on to praise him. Cockiness isn't necessarily a negative trait.

Anyway, I'd honestly like to see Bryant drive on Bogut, simply because I doubt he would be able to get a dunk off on him. If anyone has actually seen Bogut, he's not the type to let anyone get a dunk on him. You'd have to be pretty powerful, like an Amare Stoudamire or an Al Harrington to dunk on Bogut."

I agree and disagree, I think Bogut is right about his views on the NBA and I like the fact he has a selfless attitude and is 'old school' in his approach to basketball. Bogut is going to be a helluva a ball player no matter where he ends up.

However, I don't think his comments directed at Kobe were appropriate. The interviewer was obviously trying to bait him into calling out a player, and Bogut bit hard. It's fine to be honest and open, but I don't think Bogut knows Kobe well enough to make a lot of assumptions.

Kobe Bryant has been painted as a selfish, arrogant person on and off the court. I don't see how anyone can call Kobe Bryant selfish though. He's a gym rat and basketball junkie, he is self motivated and driven to be the best player ever. I wish more players took that approach to the game of basketball instead of accepting the bare minimum just to cash in on a huge paycheck. Kobe Bryant plays through injury and isn't afraid to take the big shots.

I think Kobe was humble and sacrificed his game and skill to Shaq O'neal. However, last year he became more vocal about Shaq not working as hard as the other players in the off-season and demanding his extension. I think Kobe Bryant eclipsed Shaq O'neal as being the best player on the Lakers last season, so I think Shaq is the player who should have deferred to Kobe and handed him the torch. What pisses me off is Shaq deferred to Dwayne Wade from day 1 as a Heat, worked his butt off in the summer, and was magically motivated again. If anyone should be labeled and criticized for being selfish, Shaq fits the description a lot better.

Sounds like a challenge! When the Bucks and Lakers meet next year let's have a sig bet Schaddy. If the Lakers win you must put 'Kobe Pwn3d! Bogut' on your sig for a week, and if the Bucks win it will be vice-versa for me. [IMG]

You just better pray Kobe doesn't guard Michael Redd in the game shut him completely down!

[IMG] I was joking man [IMG] it's just funny that Bogut has the nuts to say that before he even plays a game. [IMG] I guess I wouldn't be all that hurt if Bogut got posterized by Kobe a) cuz he does it to most big guys [IMG] cuz it happens to the bucks all the time c) dunks don't matter that much to me. I also could careless if Kobe dunks on Bogut, I'd rather the Lakers get the 'W'. If Kobe does dunk on Bogut I'll scream and cheer, but most important is the win and not Kobe one upping a rookie.

Bogut did this same thing before the Kentucky game last year. He was all cocky about the game and said that he could take Kentucky's two 7-footers(Alleyne and Obrzut) to school. What ended up happening is we held him to 8-19 shooting and 4-11 from the line. And won the game 62-52. So hearing these words come out of Bogut's mouth is nothing new to me, but this time- he better try and back them up.

Well, I think you just took it the wrong way. Unless I'm missing something, he never called Bryant selfish. He said he had a cocky arrogance, which everyone notices and is undeniable. He also said that if he played with Shaq then he'd just shut his mouth. To me, that's more of a comment made out of respect for the best big man in the game rather than a knock on Kobe Bryant. I've avoided the whole "Kobe vs. Shaq" feud these past few years, but I know enough to know that they don't get along. Bogut just is saying that if he were Kobe, he'd play whatever role possible to make Shaq happy. Just read further down in the article -

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Candid? Definitely. Harsh? No more than what many current and former players have said about Bryant.</div>

First of all I checked on the bogut guy and saw some highligts. second he should'nt be yapping his mouth, he hasnt even played 1 nba game in his life. third he doesnt know what went on with kobe and shaq behind the scenes expept for kobe, shaq and some of the lakers guys. ohh yeah and he will never be as good as kobe. even shaq said that kobe is the best basketball player.

First of all how can you even talk about basketball when you didn't even know who Andrew Bogut was until just now....

Second of all Bogut never said anything about Kobe's skills. He knows Kobe's good, everyone knows he's good. He just commented on his attitude.

I'm sure thousands of people feel the way Bogut does, so do I. He just said it publicly, maybe he got tricked by the media.

Basically, Shaq gave the Lakers and ultimatum (is this spelled right?)...either him for the next 2-3 years, or Kobe for the next 7-9? Who would you pick?</div>
I'm just curious. DID YOU SEE what was going on between Shaq and Kobe in your eyes? Unless you were there to see it in your eyes, don't judge who's bad and who's not.

Not everyone follows NCAA basketball. Just because you don't pay attention to soon to be rooks doesn't mean you don't know anything about basketball. It isn't a good presumption.

He commented on something he knows nothing about. The only thing we really know about Kobe's attitude is what Shaq has told the media. Bogut made a presumption ("Probably...") and it will come back to bite him in the butt.

To everyone here saying that Bogut shouldn't say this because he didn't know what happened below the surface: do you? What makes you so sure that it was Shaq's decision to leave? In the Finals of 2004, who was the one that tried to take every shot? If Kobe and Shaq had shared the ball and the team won the championship, what would happen? Kobe with his own actions forced Shaq out of LA. It seems like it's obvious to everyone except Laker fans.

We get on Bogut when he knows nothing and spouts off, yet we talk about things we know nothing about either. Why would we attack Bogut but not ourselves?

The fact Shaq said "Trade me!" (for the part in bold)

Kobe did not force Shaq out, but I will agree he did not do anything to suggest he wanted Shaq to be around either.

In the end the decision was made by the owner, Dr. Buss, not Kobe to part ways with Shaq.

Still you guys are only guessing what happened between them 2. Like I said, unless you saw it in your eyes or perhaps family members of either one, you can't be too sure. I'm not saying as if I know what happened. That's why I keep my mouth shut cuz I may be wrong.
