Any other fantasy book readers in house? I always love having a good conversation about my favorites and hearing about some good ones. My favorites are(In no particular order) The wheel of time The Song of ice and fire Most of the forgotten realms books. Paul Kemp being my favorite author of the bunch, followed by RA Salvatore The Night Angel trilogy by Brent weeks Love books centering on Assassins and darker characters. Brent Weeks and Paul Kemp are just amazing at those
Sorry, I figured if anyone knew the series I listed they would know the author lol. The Wheel of time was written by Robert Jordan until he passed away. he made sure his wife, Editor and another author had the info needed to finish his epic and Brandon Sanderson took over from there. George RR Martin wrote the song of ice and fire. Currently being done by HBO as the Game of thrones. Paul Kemp and RA Salvatore I did mention as well. great DnD world writers
I'm reading this right now: http://www.amazon.com/Man-High-Castle-Philip-Dick/dp/0547572484 Phillip K Dick wrote some of the greatest Science Fiction stories ever. Several have been turned into movies, including: Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report, Paycheck, A Scanner Darkly, and The Adjustment Bureau. The Terminator was highly influenced by Dick's stories.
If you enjoyed the the new Wheel of Time books give The Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson a try or really any Sanderson book. He has quickly sky rocketed to one of my favorite authors the last few years. I also enjoyed "The Daylight wars" series by Peter v Brett. The writing style reminded me of Brent Weeks in that he never let up on the action. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Looks like the first half of my post got cut away on my phone. There is almost nothing that I like more then sitting outside and reading an epic fantasy book. A few of the series that I hold near and dear are: A song of Fire and Ice by George R. Martin Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson The Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson The Drenia saga by David Gemmell The Shannara by Terry Brooks The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind (only half of the series is good but the final three books redeamed a series that otherwise had started out in a blaze and by book nine had dwindled into nothingness) The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks There are a lot of other series that I really enjoyed but the above series are the books that I find myself constantly drifting back to reread if I have no new books or find myself bored. Iv never read him but he is an author that a lot of my friends have been trying to get me to read for years. I finally gave in an ordered Blade Runner, Total Recall, and The Adjustment Bureau yesterday from Amazon. Looking forward to reading them. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I am planning on checking out Sanderson's novels since I felt he did a great job finishing the wheel of time and getting it back on track. Ill have to look up Peter V brett
I have read a few of his book. Did not quite catch me like the fantasy genre in general, although i love scifi
Sword of truth...... I loved the first book and parts of the second and third and 4th. It really did drag out until the chainfire trilogy put it back on track. Don't bother reading the new book "The omen machine" though. He should have left it alone after the finale.
