More from Boomer this AM. Elminates Clarkson, which is not a shock to me: -It is not Clarkson or Chris Neil -It is not Brad Marchand -It is not Wayne Simmonds -It is not Vanek or Gaborik -He thinks the deal would be made sooner rather than later
If it was Bolland I would think a prospect and conditional pick would come back. Callahan for Bolland, Biggs and a conditional second if he signs with Toronto. Usually, players never want to leave the Rangers. An odd few do. So, I think the chances of them signing Bolland before the end of the season would be strong.
If it was Bolland we would have to get another very good piece with him. A solid pick or solid prospect. Bolland is always hurt as well. One time has played 80 games. Never scored 20 goals. One time scored 40 points. We clearly would need more than just Bolland as mentioned. I still would be surprised if the guy we got back was a UFA this summer unless we got a very solid 2nd piece with the player. Would really defeat the purpose of dealing Cally because he could walk for nothing. Why bring back another UFA this summer would could walk for nothing. Boomer did say a conditional pick is possible though, but I would think the condition is does the team Cally goes to re-sign him this summer.
I have to say this though, why is Cally doing this? I know the easy answer is because it only takes one team to give him that deal, and he feels he can get it from someone (maybe Buffalo), but I thought he would take a good solid fair deal and stay a Ranger. This is all very surprising to me. If we offered 6 mill per for 5 years as was reported, I am really surprised Cally didn't take that. To me that was most likely the nail in the coffin for Sather. Surprised we have come to this. I thought Cally wanted to stay a Ranger and be the captain of the New York Rangers for a long time. And it isn't like we have low balled him where he had no choice but to leave. Very surprising.
I'm with dump on this one. Lucic is a weapon due to his size and ability to score some goals. I simply cannot see the Bruins dealing him for Cally. I would say no shot on that one.
Thats true dump, but if Boomer's tweets are right he is saying everybody will be shocked and fans will not like it at first. Makes sense, we all hate Lucic and love Callahan. I'm not sure why Boston would do that either, but if we're putting a package together then it may happen. Maybe thats why he said we'll look like both buyers and sellers. Think of the numbers. Lucic is signed for 2 more years at 6m. 6m is what we offered Cally and he turned down. Aside from that, Lucic is way more durable and has 2 seasons at 60 points, 25+ goals. Also only 25 years old. Fills a scoring, size, and toughness need. I think its a possibility.
He's also one of the only guys that Boomer didnt shoot a quick NO! to last night when mentioned, and at the end of the night tweeted a couple people hit on it.
Anything is possible Prod, but that would be a 10000000000% shocker to me. Plus he said a 1 for 1 deal, maybe a conditional pick, not a package. And why would any Ranger fan not like that deal at first? I would drive Cally back to the airport when he lands from Russia if we could get Lucic. I see almost no way Boston deals him for Cally. I would love it, but say no shot on that one. I take his fans will not like it at first comment to mean we'll be saying really that is all we got for Cally. That's how I read it.
He already so no Chris Neil. So not him. And now no Boston or Toronto. Maybe Detroit? They have a ton of injuries upfront. That is my prediction...the Wings.
-It is not Moulson or Evander Kane -It is not Artem Anisimov and a first round pick -It is not PK Subban -Is it not Iginla -Callahan is not going to Toronto or Boston
Wings is my call, but the BJ's are possible as well. We have a thing with them. Issue there is same division, and battling for a playoff spot with them directly make them a longer shot. But we do have a hookup with them.
